Hi, can anyone help me i dont know if i buyed the wrong rams...

I have put together a new PC with a MOBO Z690 ROG HERO EVA EDITION, i updated to latest BIOS 3701 that means i have compatibility with 14th gen CPU, my CPU is I7 14700KF.

The problem is i have buyed a pack of 2x16 DDR5 CORSAIR DOMINATOR PLATINUM RAMS

MODEL: CMT32GX5M2B5200C40

When i use 1 slot 16gb its fine computer works good, but when i slot the second ram on b2 or other slots it gets me the 55 error q-code and when i boot the pc it stays black and i dont get image from Monitor.

Any help with these please?

Ty

Hello @mathias91
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delayed response.
Regarding the issue you described, when installing a single memory module, did you install it in the DIMM_A2 slot?

On Intel platform motherboards, the Q-code 55 error indicates a memory detection issue during boot.
In addition to checking that the memory is properly seated and that the slot is free of physical damage, did you apply any manually or overclocking settings, such as enabling XMP?
We recommend clearing CMOS under BIOS version 3701 and then reinstalling the memory in the DIMM_A2 and B2 slots to see if this resolves the issue.
If possible, you can also try cross-testing with other memory modules to further isolate any potential hardware problems.

Thank you.

sharing complete hardware info & software config details will help us better understand the issue 🙂

Hi @mathias91 since you have built a new machine, it is possible that your CPU cooler is putting too much pressure on one side of the CPU causing certain CPU PINS to be pressed extra hard.

I recommend that you remove your CPU cooler and open the CPU socket to inspect if the CPU and the PINS are visually all looking good. If everything looks good, carefully reinsert the CPU making sure you do not put the CPU in the wrong direction since you took it out. Triple check the CPU alignments and slowly put the CPU locking frame on it. Next install your CPU cooler a bit looser this time around.

If you can share the CPU cooler details with Make and Model that will help us get a better understanding of your setup. Did you install a contact frame or are you using the board's default CPU holding mechanisms?

I hope this information helps you troubleshoot your issue and gets you back to a fully working state.

New builds are exciting but any issues are frustrating so I fully understand your situation. Good luck!
