some info:
ROG Strix x870e-e
Win11 fully updated/latest update/s - fresh install
All drivers installed from Asus website https://rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-x870e-e-gaming-wifi/helpdesk_download/
Issue:
Shouldn't it be as simple as opening asussetup.exe in the root? or do i open setup.exe or asussetup.exe in the win11 folder?
Is there a pre-requisite driver or procedure or installation order or method needed?
After installation of the official driver win11 still uses generic usb audio driver which doesn't work:
and if i open the realtek console it says the RPC server cannot be started.
Basically the PC is acting as if it cannot use the drivers i installed.
If i manually chose the realtek driver from this menu (after unclicking compatible drivers and choosing realtek):
the computer bsod and restarts.
I know this is either a me issue or a driver issue since this is a replacement motherboard since the first one did the exact same thing and i assumed it was a bad motherboard.
For those that have this motherboard and working usb audio - how did you install the driver?
Am i missing a driver that needs to be installed before audio possibly?
Thanks,

Well...another day....another....wait what??
I have no idea why it was finally detected.
It's even showing the location properly whereas before it was showing this location:
Nothing changed - just another cold boot (I prefer to shut down the computer when done) and there it is.
Thanks for all the suggestions and assistance - but nothing was a definitive solution so it's still a mystery!

Hey Classic_gamer,
Get the right drivers from this site:
It also describes how to permanently remove the old one and then install the new one. Otherwise, you can also ask @MoKiChU for advice there; he's the driver mogul. Always very knowledgeable and on top of things.

Thanks, I've done the Mokichu procedure many times and it did not resolve anything.
Does anyone have this motherboard and have working usb audio?

Or a suggestion on how to troubleshoot it? Thanks!

Have you ever reinstalled Windows and then reinstalled this driver from Mokichu? Install Windows without an internet connection until you've installed all the drivers, including the graphics card driver. It's best to download all the required new drivers from Mokichu to a USB stick first.

Hi, no I have no tried an offline installation. At this point, with *everything* all set up that would be a monumental task for me.
If it's possible - could you review my initial thread on this? I suppose I could try your suggestion on a spare empty nvme drive I have installed and dual boot...

Hey,
I'd try your suggestion with dual boot. Install everything offline. The graphics card driver last. This one offline too. I can't think of anything else at the moment. I understand that this is always a big undertaking, but sometimes you just need to clean up your system. A huge amount of data junk keeps accumulating, and the only way to get rid of it is with a clean install of Windows.
I wish you the best of luck, and let me know if you have more information, or even if it works. That way, you could mark one of these suggestions as a possible solution.

I tried but it did not resolve the issue. It was worth a shot though!
Fwiw this was a new build 6 weeks ago which began it's life as a fresh install of win11 and it's been having this issue since new. I even returned the motherboard thinking it was a hardware fault and this is the second motherboard.
Anyway, as for troubleshooting today - I dual booted a fresh win 11 install, offline via cmd and bypassnro command, and the same issue persists.
I also then booted a fresh win 10 install with the same results.
I tried unplugging the pc for a while per another suggestion and it did not result the issue.
Seeing how this is the second motherboard I really don't know if it's a me issue or a hardware issue. I don't need to do anything to enable or connect usb audio do I? From what I understand it's built into the motherboard. If i disable usb audio controller in bios then in windows device manager the usb audio device isn't present and re-enabling usb audio controller in bios results in it coming back.
What a headache....

Do not install Windows via the CMD. Please create a USB drive with Rufus and then install the latest version of Windows on it. You can find it here:
