Hi:)
So recently I switched from an MSI B650 Gaming Plus WiFi motherboard to an Asus ROG Strix X670E-E. Ever since this change my ping in Valorant will freeze for about 20 to 30 seconds (basically I'm disconnected but can see other people move and stuff) when I tab out and back in to the game.
I know this sounds completely unrelated, but trust me, it's not my windows installs. I've reinstalled (not reset, actual clean reinstall with usb) W11 (24h2) more than 10 times and just installed Valorant and the required drivers, it still happens. Specs are as follows:
Ryzen 7800X3D
Gigabyte Gaming OC 4070 Super
2x16GB 6000CL30 RAM Vengeance
2x1tb NVME (Gen 4 & Gen 3)
Side notes: this also rarely happens on W10 but not by just alt tabbing alone, I need to alt tab and do something somewhat intensive and it may happen (about 10% of the time). On W11 it happens every single time I alt tab.
This issue also only occurs in fullscreen mode, if I'm playing windowed fullscreen it doesn't happen.
Tried all the obvious steps and genuinely cannot figure it out, been struggling for about 3 weeks, and I'm not even a dummy when it comes to pc stuff.
Would truly appreciate anyone that could help, it's super annoying, makes W11 unusable for me.
What I've tried already:
Fullscreen optimizations off/on
The W11 windowed optimization thing on/off
Network buffering in Valorant min/med/max
Game mode on/off
Hardware accelerated gpu scheduling on/off
High priority on Valorant
Asus' Chipset driver instead of AMDs
My boards Intel ethernet (disabled in bios and used a dongle)
BIOS defaults

Hello @sjoerd1044
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Based on your description, the issue you’re experiencing in fullscreen mode but not in windowed mode may be due to the GPU, drivers, or system resource management. This could be causing a temporary network disconnection when switching windows. As a result, when you switch back to the game, it may need to re-establish the network connection, which can lead to a brief freeze in ping.
To troubleshoot, you may start by removing the GPU and using the Ryzen 7800X3D iGPU to output video to narrow down the potential problem. In this configuration, run the game in fullscreen mode to see if packet loss still occurs.
If using the GPU for output, please ensure it is installed in the PCIE 5.0 x16 slot and that both drivers and VBIOS are fully updated. Please try reinstalling the graphics driver if needed, and checking if a BIOS update is available as well as clearing CMOS may also be helpful.
Additionally, please refer to [Windows 11/10] Change Power mode and plan to ensure there are no power limitations on the GPU or related devices.
Thank you.
