PC is Shutting Down when executing games

Hello everyone from the asus community, I've been dealing with a situation that is turning to be very frustrating and I don't seem to find any solution yet, I've searched in many internet forums about it but I could not find anything that works for my specific case and most available posts were pretty outdated.

Some of the games on which I've experienced this shutdowns are: Crysis 1 Remastered, Warframe (On both Classic and optimized graphics engines, even with minimal settings and 800x600), Hunt: Showdown, CSGO (Not as frequent as the others but the most annoying of them all), and others I cannot recall. Every Time I've been playing on full settings 2K and the problem happens after 15-30 minutes of playing those specific titles, and not others like for example when playing COD Warzone 2.0, RDR 2, Forza Horizon 5, or Crysis 3 remastered it all works flawlessly as well as when using the desktop with chrome and other non demanding tasks.

 My setup components are:

  • MOBO: Asus ROG Maximus XII hero Wifi.
  • CPU: Intel i9 10900k (Stock settings).
  • RAM: G-skill Trident Z Royal 3600 8gb x2 (XMP Deactivated).
  • PSU: Asus ROG Thor 1200w.
  • GPU: ASUS ROG Strix RTX 3090.
  • CPU Water Cooler: ASUS ROG Ryujin i 360.
  • System Storage: M.2 500gb WD Black SN750 (Windows 11).
  • User Files: x2 - M.2 1tb Aorus Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 (Games).

Some of the things I've tried as possible solutions are the following:

  1. As a ground zero, I checked for my temps, however the Ryjuin's display shows me real time temperatures of CPU and GPU and none reach over 140°F/60°C when on full load, so I discard this case.
  2. I've reinstalled Windows 11 many times in different disks and swapped one by one in case that a faulty disk is producing the shutdown.
  3. I've checked RAM with asus software Armory Crate for failure and nothing bad shows up.
  4. I've checked for disks with CrystalDiskInfo and the general health of all 3 disks are in good condition and them all have under 1000 hours of use.
  5. Bios is up to date to its latest version, revision 2701.

  1. This screen appears after pressing the Flexkey button and taking the CMOS battery out for 10 seconds while pressing the power button and with the pc unplugged from the wall to test if it makes any difference, it does not. However I continued by selecting F1 in the menu for stock intel configs to hopefully get more stability. Start Screen.jpg
  2.  On full load it reaches 580 max as the psu shows, it might spike to 600w but it is not quite relevant as it doesn't even surpass 50% of the PSU total power delivery.

I'm very suspicious of Windows 11 having something to do with it, I will update after installing Windows 10 and testing it out thoroughly to see if it solves anything.

All of the system drivers were downloaded from armoury crate or the official asus support page.

I can provide any information that might be relevant to solve the case.

    Thanks for reading! 🙂

i'd suggest to try out win 10 see if the problems still happen, if they do try out a previous bios version(before the latest), and if they don't happen again it might just be from win 11.
before you try the above suggestions check hwinfo temps maybe something heats up and  that makes the pc shutdown. just a few guesses but hope this helps
