Hi. I have ROG STRIX Z790-I GAMING WIFI motherboard, pcie3 riser cabel and Samsung 990 PRO ssd. If I switch mb to gen4 mode, ssd works at full speed but PC freezes even on start. If I switch to gen3, everything works fine, but ssd is half speed. Do I need buy a new gen4 riser or can I separate GPU pcie version and ssd?

Hello, @DarkMessiah
May I ask if the issue occurs when the SSD is directly installed in the M.2_1 or M.2_2 slots without using the PCIe3 riser cable?
Could you confirm your current BIOS version?
If you haven't updated to the latest version 2402 released on July 12, 2024, please consider updating and clearing CMOS before rechecking again.
Besides switching the PCIe mode, have you ensured that the SSD firmware is updated to the latest version using Samsung Magician?
When there are configuration issues on the motherboard, we recommend temporarily removing any adapters or extension cables to isolate potential hardware problems.
Thank you.

Hello, Jiaszzz_ROG
I use pcie3 riser for GPU 🙂
I updated bios, switched ALT_PCIE_MODE to Auto and set pcie4 for both SSD slots and pcie3 for the GPU slot. And now everything works stable!
I have only one problem right now, the white LED on my HIVE is constantly glowing, but everything works fine.

Hello, @DarkMessiah
We apologize for the delayed response.
Could you please confirm if the white LED on the ROG STRIX HIVE is Q-LED and whether you experience any boot issues, such as no display, when it lights on?
If there are no abnormalities, you may monitor further during usage.
