Hi
I just swappd out a 7950x for a 9950x today, and have installed the a latest BIOS etc and reset all profile settings to default (I even used clear CMOS, and did a fresh Easy BIOS installation via USB).
The motherboard will not boot passed the 62 code. I did upgrade the PCH FW before I swapped for the new CPU.
I have also taken out 1 of my 2 48GB memory DDRs and also swapped the cards around in slots A2 and B2 etc.
Any one got this working - and if so, with which BIOS version ? Thanks.
My Current Settings are
Motherboard : x670E Crosshair Hero (Wifi)
CPU : AMD 9950x
BIOS :Version 2403 ( I also tried with 2204 using the Easy BIOS)
Memory: 2 x DDR5 96GB (2 x 48GB) Trident Z5 NeoRGB (AMD Expo) 5600MT/s CL40-40-40-89 1.25V UDIMM - (F5-5600J4040D48GX2-TZ5NR)
PSU is 1200 watt
GPU : 4090 RTX

Thanks for responding again, here are the answers to your next round of questions...
1) In the original post, you mentioned, "I did upgrade the PCH FW before I swapped for the new CPU." Could you please clarify what you mean by "PCH FW" and provide an explanation or a screenshot?
Goto this website (your website) ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO | Gaming motherboards|ROG - Republic of Gamers|ROG Global (asus.com) and see the part that says
"Firmware - PD firmware Update Tool V004 Version 004 2.97 MB 2024/01/16
Improved compatibility and added CDC mode support. "
And then see the attched image for a view of the same web page
2) Regarding the Q-code 62 with a blue Q-LED lighting up at the same time, based on the official site, the Q-LED indicators are: CPU [red], DRAM [yellow], VGA [white], Boot Device [yellow green], and there is no blue Q-LED.
Could you please double-check the Q-LED indicator or provide photos or a video?
The LED was WHITE. No I can not post a video or photo, as I said in my previous 2 posts I have put the 7950x back into my system, this means the 9950 IS NOT IN MY COMPUTER RIGHT NOW, so I can not do anything to investigate further.
3) The currently installed memory (F5-5600J4040D48GX2-TZ5NR) is not listed in the ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO memory QVL.
If possible, we recommend testing with other memory listed in the QVL to rule out any potential compatibility issues.
Please refer to [Motherboard] How to query (CPU/memory) QVL List? if needed.
4) Please also confirm the OS and build version.
OS (which completely doesnt matter as this is a pre BIOS issue) is Windows 10 Pro - please do not suggest I do a clean install, or boot to safe mode - as I CAN NOT BOOT TO AN OS with the 9950 chip in.
Thank you.

Hello @marcusob72
After investigation by the relevant team, we would like you to try installing the 7950X using the following two steps to see if it boots correctly:
1) If you have other memory modules available, please swap the memory first.
Enter the BIOS, enable EXPO or DOCP, save and exit, then boot into the system.
After that, shut down and replace it with the F5-5600J4040D48GX2-TZ5NR.
2) If you have other memory modules, swap them and boot into the BIOS.
Adjust the SOC voltage to 1.2V, save and exit, then boot into the system.
After that, shut down and replace it with the F5-5600J4040D48GX2-TZ5NR.
Thank you.

I'm not being funny but are you actually reading anything I am writing ? The title of this post starts with "New CPU x9950 Cant Boot/POST", I then talk about how the 9950 isn't working, then you respond and tell me to "to try installing the 7950X using the following two steps to see if it boots correctly" - I have already told you I put the 7950 back in and have been using it - the 9950 didnt work not the 7950, the 7950 works, the 9950 does not boot. So the 7950 works and I have been suing this for 2 years, the 9950 I purchased recently and didnt work, so I put the 7950 back in.

Hello @marcusob72
Our relevant department speculates that the issue may be related to the interaction between the memory and CPU, which could be causing the failure to boot, and is the reason we provided some setup recommendations.
We have indeed tested the F5-5600J4040D48GX2-TZ5RK, and it successfully booted with the AMD Ryzen™ 9 9950X without any issues.
Additionally, the memory part number you originally posted is F5-5600J4040D48GX2-TZ5NR, while the last part number shown in your picture is F5-5600J4040D48GX2-TZ5RK, indicating that the two part numbers do not match.
Thank you.

The l,ast 2 digits in memory are indeed different, but you are asking me to put the RK memory variant into my motherboard - where this is an Intel Memory Board (not AMD) - so I don't know why you have that listed on the AMD 9000 Series CPU compatibility (perhaps at lower clock ?). The AMD Expo Variant of G.Skill memory is the NR variant (hence why I have the NR variant). Can your support team see if the NR variant (F5-5600J4040D48GX2-TZ5NR) works with the 9950 ? Because without purchasing $500 of memory, and the 9950 again at a total cost of $1300, I won't be able to tell if it will work or not, I would have to spend $1300 to find out.

Hello @marcusob72
Thank you for your prompt reply.
Memory is not inherently designed as CPU platform-specific. It's built to common standards like DDR4 or DDR5, though some may be optimized or tested to better suit certain platforms, especially in high-performance scenarios.
Therefore, there may be slight differences in the default overclocking settings' names. When using it cross-platform, the DOCP setting will be displayed.
Kindly refer to the table in Q5 of [Motherboard] How to optimize the Memory performance by setting XMP or EXPO or DOCP in BIOS:
If you prefer to continue using the F5-5600J4040D48GX2-TZ5NR with the 9950X CPU, we recommend reviewing the above BIOS settings to see if they help resolve the boot issue. However, we still suggest installing memory from the QVL for optimal compatibility.
Thank you.

Also in an earlier post you said the memory Iam using was not supported, but it is listed on your website for the motherboard - it says its supported, here is the image of your web site - its the last entry in the list on the page

After receiving zero help from level 2 support and them telling me the only thing I can do is RMA my motherboard ?? and wait amonth while they look into it I decided to send the 9950 back. I wouldnt recommend anyone buying this chip as AMD didnt bother trying to help and ASUS will tell you to RMA (leaving you with no computer while they chuck your motehrbaord about in a lab for a month). The 9950 is not worth the hassle.
