Hello guys, building my first pc here. I bought a GSkill XMP RAM (f5-6000j3040f16gx2-tz5rk) without knowing that XMP's are for Intel. I want to build an AMD Ryzen 7800X3D. Most of my friends told me to check the QVL list for the motherboard I want because they might not be compatible. I want ASUS ROG STRIX B650A Gaming WIFI. When I checked the QVL list I saw that my RAM only appears when Ryzen 8000 series selected. But when I change it to Ryzen 7000 series, my RAM dissapears. Does this mean that if I get a 7800X3D my RAM won't work? Thank you for your help.

Hello @paulfrank21
Memory overclocking is influenced not only by the motherboard but also by the CPU, RAM modules and PSU.
ASUS verifies the motherboard for optimal stability and compatibility when used with devices listed in the CPU/Memory QVL.
If your current memory is not listed in the QVL, in addition to enabling EXPO, you can manually adjust overclocking parameters to achieve the best stability for your hardware configuration.
Please also refer to the installation slots recommended in the user manual and install the memory modules from the same kit, you can start with a single module to ensure it operates correctly before adding additional modules.
For further details, please refer to "Memory Kits - Overclocking and What You May Not Know," the "purchasing and installation guide" on the memory QVL page, or [Motherboard] How to query (CPU/memory) QVL List?
Thank you.
