My pc is restarting at idle

Hello everyone!

I recently build a pc with those parts :

AMD Ryzen 7700X

Asus Rog Strix B650E-F

Corsair RM750e 80+gold

BeQuiet Pure Base 500DX

Asus Geforce RTX 4070

G.Skill DIMM 32GB DDR5-6000 2x16

So here is what i am expreriencing :

My computer works perfectly when i run  any game and my architect - rendering programs  . but if i leave it on idle or when im browsing the internet through Chrome or any other browser my screen freezes i cant click anything and i can only move the mouse around untill the computer automaticly restarts.

At first i thought it was a thermal issue because of the CPU that runs hot and i throttled it to 80 C [ didnt help]

Then i thought it was my architect programs fault because i downloaded it from the internet and didnt have a proper license . so i uninstalled it ... [ im still getting the crashes on idle]

Any ideas ?

i read somewhere  "My first guess would be that the PSU does not like the load transients from the CPU going from sleep to max boost and back to sleep again when there isn't much for it to do"

is it a possibility? how do i fix it? 

Any other ideas?

Thank you for providing the hardware specifications and context.
Regarding the issue of stuttering and needing to restart during idle or light load usage, how long does it take for this to occur after booting?
Do you have any overclocking settings in the BIOS or system?
If so, does clearing CMOS and booting with the default BIOS settings resolve the issue?
What is your current BIOS version, and does updating to the latest version 2613 resolve the problem?

If the above steps do not help, could you please record a video following the steps below and share it with us?
Boot the system > Use or leave the system idle under light load > Capture the stuttering (How long does it take? Does it always happen?)> Show the mouse stuttering and the system automatically restarting
Reboot and enter the system

• No overclocking settings at all

If so, does clearing CMOS and booting with the default BIOS settings resolve the issue?

• No it doesnt work.

What is your current BIOS version, and does updating to the latest version 2613 resolve the problem?

• as soon as i build the computers i instantly upgraded to the latest bios version .

The issue in general :

• Mouse is not stuttering its working normaly but i cant click anything on the desktop or on windows bar . After 30 seconds or so, the computer restarts . No bluescreen messages no nothing.

I build 2 identical computers . the 1st one had no issue till recently when this happened  and the 2nd has this issue from day one. 

The only changed i did from the start :

1.  To both computers :
   • Disabled memory training for faster boot times
   • Bios update to the latest version
   • Clean windows installation
2. To the 2nd computer :
   • Throttled cpu to slow down at 80celcius temperature so it doesnt get too hot.

I cant record a video at the moment

May I ask if the hardware specifications and OS versions of the two PCs are completely identical?
Based on your description, we suggest checking if the CPU is correctly installed and if there are any bent pins in the CPU sockets of both PCs.
Kindly consult the ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI user manual to ensure all components and power cables are installed correctly to address your speculation and eliminate potential hardware issues.
If necessary, consider cross-testing different PSUs or power cables.

Hardware and OS is exactly the same !

i Checked the CPU's Theres no issue there they are installed correctly .

I will try to find another PSU and i will get back to you with the results .

Can it be a software issue? or some BIOS setting?

Hi there, I'm having the same issues with the same motherboard on a very similar build.

I had left the PC alone for some minutes, when I came back to it I started writing an email on Chrome, suddenly the mouse stopped working (Connected via Bluetooth). That's when I knew it was happening to started recording. I was able to use the trackpad on my keyboard for a while until that was unresponsive as well.

At around the 4 minute mark, after the PC restarted I'm showing the Critical event from Windows Event Viewer.

I know this is an issue of this motherboard, and pretty recent for what I found out online. Maybe one of the latest Bios updates is creating this issue?

We apologize for the delay in responding.
Could you please clarify if this issue occurred after the PC was first built or after using it for some time and occurred following any recent changes, such as a BIOS update or component replacement?

According to your description, in light-load usage, the Bluetooth-connected mouse becomes unresponsive, but the trackpad on the keyboard may still operate the pointer.
Following this, from 0:48 to 1:25, there appears to be a brief period of inactivity (seems you are waiting for the reboot to occur), and at 3:05, the screen went black. 
During this time, the RGB fan in the case continued to run, indicating the system was still powered on, then the system restarted and the Event Manager was accessed.

May I ask if this issue also occurs after clearing CMOS or in Safe Mode, and how often does this issue occur, such as once a week or after 10 minutes of each startup?
Could you confirm your current OS and build version, and provide a list of your driver versions list file via the following steps?
Press "Win+R" > type "cmd" and press Enter > copy and paste the following command: driverquery /FO LIST /V > "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\drivers_list.txt". 
You will find the driver list file on your desktop.

The problem was present since I build the PC. I had updated the Bios via USB prior to building everything and it's currently in the version 2616. Here is the result of the command you requested with the drivers list.

On the video, I realized it was going to do the restart when Task Manager and Search window from the Task bar where blank. However, this time I got it on video was the first time it took so long to restart. I believe the keyboard was functional since it's connected via the USB wireless receiver, not Bluetooth.

I have not tried clearing CMOS or using it in Safe mode to see if it occurs. It had been happening daily, until two days ago. That's when there was an update on the Armoury Crate app, as well as on some of the Asus components and drivers. The restart didn't occur yesterday neither the day before.

Additionally, I tried modifying a RAM option on the Bios (following some forums and threads with similar issues), and set up the Power Down option for the RAM to Enable (instead of the default value of Auto). This was was done a day prior to the updates, and I had one restart so I don't think it did anything.

As you can see from the Event Viewer image below, the issue was daily (Event ID 142). The dates missing are days that I simply didn't use the PC. There is another Critical Error as Event ID 42 I believe it's whenever the PC goes to sleep. I don't know if they are related.

Thank you for your response and for sharing the details.
Regarding the missed point you mentioned: "I uninstalled a small program that wasn't working properly and I thought that was the cause because the restarts stopped for a week." Could you please specify which program or executable file it was?
Kindly clear CMOS and enter safe mode with a light load to see if the issue persists.
If possible, please back up your data and reset/ reinstall the operating system as well.

May I ask if you are still experiencing rebooting issues?
In addition to the previously suggested CMOS clearing and safe mode verification, we recommend the following steps to distinguish between software and hardware problems:
- Boot into BIOS after removing all SSDs and HDDs, then observe for auto-shutdowns
- Install a new drive, reinstall the system, and monitor for shutdowns without installing or updating any drivers
If the above steps yield no issues, install drivers and observe the system for auto-shutdowns
