Motherboard Z790-e red light problem

SwiftS021

Hello,

Last night I was playing ready or not and my Monitor shut off and my PC fans went loud and eventually my PC restarted. I went out and got another DisplayPort thinking it would fix the issue- it didn't.

This morning when turning on my PC, it clicks the power button, flickering the cpu cooler, ram sticks and fans. I have to turn the switch off and on to get it to properly turn on but when I do manage to turn it on, the MOBO red light turns on after  the orange light and stays on.

Any recommendations?

Hello @SwiftS021

Thank you for reaching out to us.
May we ask if this PC was recently built, or if there were any hardware or software changes made prior to this issue, such as upgrading the CPU or updating the BIOS?
Based on the situation you described, we recommend referring to [Motherboard] ASUS motherboard troubleshooting via Q-LED indicators for troubleshooting steps. This includes checking and reinstalling the CPU to ensure there are no bent pins and that it is neither too loosely nor too tightly installed.
If the orange indicator you mentioned corresponds to the DRAM Q-LED (yellow in the FAQ video), please also check whether the memory is installed in the recommended slots as per the ROG STRIX Z790-E GAMING WIFI user manual, and if it is listed on the ROG STRIX Z790-E GAMING WIFI Memory QVL.

Thank you.
