So I had the i9 14900k crash issue. I had intel replace the CPU.
The interesting thing is the crashing was still there but it changed. On the first CPU, it would crash to the blue screen or just reboot.
On the new CPU, I would find my system has rebooted into BIOS as though it could no longer see the m.2 drives.
I applied the new microcode update that came out this month, I almost thought it was ok then it crashed twice in a row, to BIOS.
Is it possible the board is somehow damaged? I am not sure whay is going on here and why the crashing behaviour changed to not seeing the drives. I have to power it off then on again for it to see the drives and boot.
(I am not sure if it is not seeing all the drives or just the boot drive, I cannot seem to find a list of installed drives in the BIOS screen, does that exist somewhere?)

I'm in the process of replacing my i9 14900k currently with Intel,
There may be a chance when you installed your new replacement chip before installing the microcode it could have still overvolted and burned out sections of the chip once again determining on how long you ran it before the microcode update came out.
Intel has said all damage to the chips are permanent and the microcode cant fix the already damaged chips. I would attempt to RMA the chip again, Then the board if it doesn't fix it.

Yeah, I replaced it a couple of weeks before the bios update so it may have re-fried it. Trying to get intel to replace it now.
It is funny that Intel said the first replacement wouldn't have issues even though nothing was actually changed with the CPU.

Hello @Phunction
Thank you for reaching out to us.
According to your description, the CPU received through RMA is experiencing issues recognizing the M.2 SSD, and after updating the BIOS to version 1503, which includes Intel microcode 0x129, you encountered crashes twice.
May I ask if you have contacted the retailer or repair service for further assistance?
Could you please verify if the settings follow the guidelines in [Motherboard] Intel 13th and 14th Gen K-Series processor stability Improvement with Latest ASUS BIOS...
Are the crashes occurring in specific situations or displaying any error messages?
Also, does the issue persist after clearing CMOS and under default BIOS settings, including without enabling XMP or any other overclocking configurations?
Thank you.

I had some crashes after replacing the CPU, before the 1503 update was available. I have had 2 more crashes since posting the original message. Unfortuanately the crashes always seem to happen when I am away from my system, so I don't see any error message or blue screen, I just come back to see the system sitting at the BIOS screen.
I cleared the CMOS, loaded the BIOS defaults and have it set for Intel Default Settings. I did not enable any over clocking.

You can check Windows Event Viewer > System.
Blue Screen Viewer is also a great tool.

Unfortuanetely that does not tell me much, all I get is an error that the system shut down unexpectedly with no errors before then.

Hello @Phunction
Since you recently replaced the CPU, we recommend contacting the retailer at your earliest convenience for assistance with the persistent issues after the repair.
However, if you would like us to investigate further, please help by providing a complete video of the scenario and the following details to help us better understand the problem:
- a full video recording of the issue, including booting up, monitoring CPU, GPU, and chassis temperatures in OS, and the system crashing and rebooting into the BIOS while idle
- the image of the BIOS mainpage
- the brand and model name of the CPU, GPU, RAM (part number and installed slots as well), SSD/HDD, and PSU currently installed
- are there any extensions or adapters used to connect any devices, such as GPU or SSD?
- the OS version and OS build
- the circumstances and frequency of the problem
Thank you.
