Maximus Z690 Extreme with BIOS version 2403 is unstable with CTD

After installing BIOS version 2403 and enabling XMP on my Maximus Z690 Extreme MB, I started experiencing random CTD in game play.  Happens with almost all games, and doesn't seem to be something I can easily recreate persistently.  I have since reverted back to 2305, and haven't seen the issue again.

Hello, @ben1england

I apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delayed response, as there have been consecutive holidays at our location in recent days.
Could you please provide the detailed model, part number, and installation slots of your memory modules? Alternatively, could you confirm if your current memory is listed in the Memory Support QVL on the ROG MAXIMUS Z690 EXTREME's official website?
Please refer to [Motherboard] How to query (CPU/memory) QVL List? if needed.
Also, please try installing the memory modules in the recommended slots mentioned in the user manual, clearing CMOS, and then re-enable XMP to see if the issue is resolved.

Thank you.

Hi @Jiaszzz_ROG ,

Thank you for your reply!

It's F5-6400J3239G16GA2-TZ5RK from G Skill, Trident-Z5.  Slots are as expected and the model does appear in the Mobo's QVL.

Clearing CMOS and re-enabling XMP was done, but to no avail.

Hello, @ben1england

Thank you for helping to verify the memory specifications.
Based on your description, this CTD issue only occurs during gaming.
Does it happen when running other software or applications?
Have you tried running the games with default BIOS settings without enabling XMP to see if the CTD issue persists?
We also recommend checking the graphics card driver version, the game version, and performing software-related checks such as uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

Thank you.

I have the same issue - DCS game during play crashing...same issue was with 2305.

Back to 2204 and no issue!

12900KF, Overclocked 5.2, G.Skill DDR5 6400 32GB, Asus Z690 Hero, Gigabyte 4090 - full custom waterloop on each hardware!

Hello, @LVNona

May I ask if you are experiencing crashes to the desktop (CTD) while playing games, or is the computer shutting down and requiring a reboot?
Have you tried clearing the CMOS and restoring the BIOS settings to default?
If possible, please provide a more detailed description of the issue and the troubleshooting steps you have already taken when in BIOS 2305.

Thank you.
