lighting / armory crate

I have been using armoury crate since more than 2 years now.
I loved the promise of Armoury Crate at first, and I was all in on the ASUS ecosystem: control everything with only one software. But then the reality hit hard. It takes a while for each tab to open, it needs to be online all the time, and it wastes a ton of resources.

I'm on a 9950X3D with an X670E Extreme. The Fan service alone was using 0.7% of the CPU at peak. It cools down after stopping and restarting the services, but it just adds up with the other services used by AC. I'm not an RGB guy. I just want everything turned off, and to control my fans.

Oh, by the way, you don't want to update Armoury Crate services right now. Too bad you can't change the fan control curve anymore.

I've already paid enough for the motherboard. I feel like you shouldn't be trying to collect my data all the time by forcing me to be online with that software. Why should I need to connect to your servers to control my fans?!

Tired of Armoury Crate, I use FanControl now. But for the lights, it seems like ASUS didn’t even consider that people might want to control that through Windows. The option is there, but it's broken. You won’t be able to control RAM lighting, and on my board, some lights stay on (which is really annoying). It works with Stealth Mode in BIOS, but the RAM lights up anyway. Why?

So now I use two different pieces of software G.Skill’s app and FanControl but at least they don't waste that many resources.

I've used ASUS motherboards since the X79 Rampage IV Extreme. I’m starting to miss the old way. Armoury Crate shouldn’t feel sluggish on a top of the line system. There's no reason it should require a network connection or use this many resources.

Also, the BIOS option to auto install Armoury Crate is broken.

ASUS, please fix the lighting at least. Asking you to fix Armoury Crate entirely feels like a lost cause.
