LAN Problems with ROG STRIX X870E-E and 9800X3D - Massive Packet Loss

I also opened a case (E24110026198-0001), but maybe someone experiences the same problems. My new X870E-E (newest 0606 BIOS) has problems with the internal LAN adapter. Currently it's connected via Gigabit connection, but that  shouldn't cause problems, at least would be very bad if you would have to connect it via 5 Gb/s LAN. It seems to work normally at first, a speed test maxes out my internet connection (1000/500) and ping also is good in speed test. While playing online games, I got massive packet loss issues (while having jumping ping times), competive games are unplayable. When I try to use WiFi or external USB LAN adapter the problems are gone. So I uninstalled the current ASUS LAN driver V1126.16.1121.2023 and let Windows install a driver, which is way older. But with this old driver everything works fine. I can reproduce the problem, when installing new driver again the packet loss problems reappear.

Does someone have similar problems with the new driver? What could that be?

I agree, switching off off the Energy Efficient Ethernet option from device manager sorted out the problem immediately

Hello all,

For participants who joined the discussion later, please note that this thread specifically addresses packet loss occurring during gaming or general network usage scenarios and does not include issues related to reduced internet speed.
Based on updates from the initial users who reported this issue (as well as feedback from other users experiencing similar scenarios), disabling EEE has been shown to help resolve the problem.
If your network issue differs from this context, such as experiencing reduced internet speed or other scenarios, we kindly recommend creating a separate discussion thread to avoid confusion or potential misunderstandings.
Please provide detailed information about your issue, including your current hardware specifications and software versions. This will help clarify and identify the problem more effectively.

Thank you for your understanding.

I opened a ticket with Asus support and got a response back of all the troubleshooting steps I've already done including disabling EEE and power saving settings. The only option I haven't explored is a separate PSU which I don't have and if I was going to rewire everything I'd rather just return the board.
I see there's a new bios 0808 which I'm wary to try, might do that eventually.
Full system details and specifications from my ticket below.

I openned a case too - my issue is slightly different, i dont experience packet loss, instead im unable to get my full internet speed, i have 5GB fiber and the max download speed i can get out of the mobo NIC is 1.4GB.

I tested the internet connection and cable using a thunderbolt dock with a Marvell 5GB NIC and got full speed so it must be some issue with the Realter 8126 or Asus integration or whatever.

Waiting for updates from them - my email request id is E25010024870-0001

Actually i just tested and i do have packet loss and insane pings when i use 5GB mode - i set the port on the router to 1 GB and it runs well - something definetly off with this NIC

I got an update on this - hopefully it will help others too.

So instead of installing V1126.21.901.2024 driver from the motherboard or realtek website i downloaded the V10.73 NDIS driver from the realtek page.

This solved all the issues i was having including the ability to get 5Gbps download speeds.

Apparently these drivers use a different windows API to control the network adapter with the V1126 using NetAdapterCx and the others use NDIS which is the legacy API.

Probably the NetAdapterCx driver is still buggy so i recommend trying the other one.

Here is the link to the Realtek page - although you can also google it if you don't trust links:

I can confirm that this fix worked. I am a bit bemused that no one has thanked you for sending this out. My network card was getting massive spikes when playing path of exile 2. It made the game unplayable. I thank you sir, for giving this information. ASUS please wake up on LAN and support customers. This is one of the most expensive boards and you are not testing your software/hardware before you release drivers. Come on, its real easy and this is embarrassing for you. You literally have to get one or two people to play games on your hardware to work this out.
