High voltages and temperatures 5950x with x570 TUF Gaming Pro (WIFI)

Hi,

I have had this motherboard since 2021 running a 5800x without any issues. I have recently gotten a 5950x and did the usual BIOS update, driver updates, etc. I noticed I was getting high temperatures so I thought my cooling wasn't enough for this CPU, which was fine cause I had been thinking about getting a new AIO anyway. I got a Kraken Elite 280mm and the problems persist.

After looking around everywhere on the internet and trying hundreds of configurations (including ECO mode), I still cannot get this CPU to be stable. It keeps pushing 1.475v-1.5v non-stop, raising temperatures at idle to over 70 whenever I move my mouse, reaching 90 and crashing whenever under medium load.

As I said, I looked everywhere for solutions and found some that are still not to my liking but have made it more stable.

The changes I have had to make to get it around 40C idle and 55C under load:

DOCP enabled
FCLK 1800
CPU CORE PER RATIO: core vid 1.15, ccd0 44, ccd1 40
Performance Enhancer to Default
PBO disabled
PBO Fmax Enhancer disabled
DIGI/+ VRM: CPU LLC Level 1 / SOC LLC Level 1
PSS support enabled
SVM tested both, seems to be the same
ErP Ready tested all 3, landed on s4+s5
PCI Above 4g enabled
Resize Bar auto
Global C-State enabled
Power supply idle control tested low current idle, typical current idle and auto, landed on Low Current idle
EfficiencyModeEn enabled
DF Cstates enabled
CPPC enabled and auto
CPPC Preferred Cores Auto and enabled

However, as you can see it forces the CPU to run one of the CCDs at 4.4 ghz and the other at 4.0 ghz. I would like to have a setting in which I could let the CPU boost itself to 5.05 ghz (max I've seen it boost) that does not involve reaching 90+ degrees.

Any setting that would allow the CPU to have temperatures in the high 30s/low 40s in idle/light load and let itself boost under heavy load to mid 60s would be fine with me.

What can I do?

Hello @fstatzner

Thank you for your inquiry. Based on the scenario you described, after installing the Ryzen 9 5950X CPU, you observed higher-than-expected temperatures, which persisted even after switching to a liquid cooling solution. You then made BIOS adjustments in an effort to try achieving a boost clock of 5.05 GHz under heavy load while keeping temperatures within the expected range.
Please understand that hardware performance is influenced by both configuration and factors, and overclocking parameters often require gradual fine-tuning to achieve the desired balance between performance and thermals.
We recommend considering whether this discussion thread would be better suited for the Overclocking & Tweaking section, where it may receive more relevant attention and input. If you would like us to move the thread, please let me know.

Thank you!

You may have misunderstood me, but I am not trying to achieve any overclock. I would love to be able to use the CPU at stock or in ECO Mode in a way that it won't shut down the computer due to temperature spikes. Any change I have made in the BIOS was to achieve that goal.
