I am facing a strange issue. When I power down my computer for a long time, the computer cannot find the GPU. To temporarily fix this, I need to switch to the iGPU, restart the computer, go into the BIOS, reset the BIOS, then continue with the restart. IT does not matter what the BIOS settings actually were, as even with no settings changed from the defaults, a reset of the settings to the default fixes the issue.
I have:
- Updated the GPU drivers, using the DDU utility in safe mode and installing a downloaded version of the drivers.
- Updated Chipset Drivers
- Updated BIOS
- Changed every PCIe setting I could find in the BIOS and in Windows
- Changed LSPM to off
- Re-seated the GPU
- Tried the GPU in a different slot
- Reinstalled the OS
- Tried starting the computer with minimal components
- Removed software like Armoury Crate
- Reset CMOS
- Replaced CMOS battery
- Turned FastBoot off
Options I haven't tried:
- Using a different PSU (I don't have one)
- Trying a different GPU with the MoBo (I don't have one)
- Trying the GPU in a different MoBo (I don't have one)
Settings I have checked are the case:
- GPU is powered by two separate cables from the PSU
All updated software has been updated to the most recent version as of 2025/03/21. I have no idea what is causing this problem. Has anyone else experienced this or can anyone else help?

Hello @Sarkasian
Thank you for reaching out to us, and sorry for any inconvenience caused by the delayed response.
Could you please clarify if this issue occurred after the PC was first built or after using it for some time and occurred following any recent changes, such as a BIOS update or GPU replacement?
Regarding the issue of the GPU not being recognized after the system has been powered off for an extended period, could you please clarify whether this occurs after a day, several months, or a different duration? If the system is shut down normally and you wait for a few minutes before another cold boot, does the issue still persist? Additionally, if the SSD is removed and there is no system installed, does the same issue occur after a long shutdown?
In order to further investigate the situation, could you kindly provide the following information?
- The current BIOS version and whether the issue still occurs after clearing CMOS and keeping the BIOS to default settings?
- The VBIOS and graphics card driver versions you have tried.
- Two .txt files generated in your Windows system via the steps below:
1) Press WIN + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog, and type dxdiag → click OK.
2) Click Save All Information and select a save location → click Save.
3) Repeat the same steps with msinfo32 to generate the second file
- A complete video recording of the issue, showing the current hardware setup. Please include the scenario where the system is able to boot initially, but after being shut down for a period of time, the discrete GPU is no longer recognized, and the mentioned steps are required to resolve the issue.
You may upload the files and videos to a cloud storage service, ensure that access permissions are granted, and then share the link with us. This will assist us in providing more targeted support.
Thank you.

Hi,
1) The issue has been occurring since the PC was first built
2) By an extended period, I mean a period in which the PC has been powered down or at idle for between a few hours and a few days. At the beginning, it would happen every time we turned the computer off for more than an hour. Now, it seems to have a random chance of happening once every few days of leaving the computer overnight. This is to say that it still happens now, but is not as frequent as before.
3) In cases when the issue happens, the issue will not stop happening until I follow this process: restart the computer, switch the HDMI cable to the MOBO, go into the bios, reset the BIOS (It does not matter what the BIOS settings are. This step must be performed if the BIOS has separate settings or not), then save and restart.
4) The current BIOS version is: 3222. I have reset CMOS and replaced the CMOS battery.
5) I have not changed the VBIOS. My current version of the Driver is Nvidia's 572.60, but I have also tried 560.94.
6) I will try to film the issue happening, until then, here are the files you requested that I save:
