I spent too long in replying to https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-motherboards/asus-rog-strix-x870e-e-gaming-wifi-atx-am5-motherb... so it auto-closed. Following on here.
I've tried re-seating the CPU and that did not work. I've also tried systematically rebooting with each peripheral (not keyboard or mouse) disconnected. I'm still seeing the 4d error code on reboots only (and once in awhile it doesn't happen). I've also tried having just 1 stick in the A2 slot - tried with two different sticks - and it still issues a 4d on reboot.
My next troubleshooting attempts will be to unplug the RGB headers, but other than that, any other troubleshooting ideas?

I tried unplugging all of the RGB headers and the same issue arises.

made an account on here to tell you that i have the exact same mobo and same exact issue on a 9800x3d
i have g.skill 32 gb 2x16 and another computer with similar corsair ram, both give me the same result, i will get to the ASUS screen and then 4d and it's frozen from there

@swojabe you have the same issue where the 4d freeze only happens on reboots?

@rfpludwickitll happen on cold boots sometimes too, not always, but every other day or so

That sounds more like instability. How are you testing memory stability?

It would do the same thing even without EXPO enabled, JEDEC on both kits did the same thing.

Go into the UEFI and use the search function (F9) to look for Monitor Software Workaround. Set this to Enabled.
Retest behaviour.

@Silent_Scone Just tried that. The reboot from saving the UEFI settings went into 4d.

Is Armoury Crate installed on the system? If so, does the behaviour persist if it's not installed?
Check the latest BIOS build, as this has a new AGESA revision.
