Corsair HX1000W PSU
Samsung 970 & 980 Pro NVME

===========================
I have done a fresh install of Windows without installing any drivers or software yet. I check Event Viewer and everything seems fine.
I turn off my computer and power then insert my secondary NVME. I turn on the power and computer and then goto check Event Viewer and now I see some critical errors.
I notice I will trigger these critical errors whenever I shut down to remove or insert my secondary NVME.
Why am I getting these critical errors whenever I remove or plug in my second NVME drive? Does anyone else experience this? How do I fix this issue? Please help.
Event ID: 6008 - The previous system shutdown at (time) on (date) was unexpected
Event ID: 29 - Windows failed fast startup with error status 0xC00000D4
Event ID: 41 - The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly

Also when I start installing the Chipset drivers and it reboots when I check Event Viewer I will see multiple of these warnings. Why do I get these and are they of concern:
Kernel PNP 225 - The application \Device\HarddiskVolume3\Windows\System32\csrss.exe with process id 680 stopped the removal or ejection for the device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_464D&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_02\….

Then after everything is installed I get these in Event Viewer:

Hi @Bloatware why are you installing the 2nd drive after installing Windows? Can you not leave in both drives and then do a fresh Windows installation?
Also, the error you are getting is with Windows 11 default Fast Start being enabled. It is a variation on Windows Hibernate Mode. You can disable Fast Start via Power Configuration settings.
My recommendation is that you have both the drives installed, then do a fresh Windows installation and then install all the drivers from your motherboards support page. Look for any errors after everything is properly installed.

Hi @achugh
I insert my secondary NVME after Windows installation because all my drivers are on this drive. I don’t have both NVME drives inserted because Windows will create a reserved partition for the secondary NVME drive if I leave that in. I don’t want it to have anything to do with booting Windows. So I don’t think it will be an option leaving both in when doing a Windows install.
By the way I am on Windows 10 and everytime I remove/insert the secondary NVME it will trigger the critical errors I listed above. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Is everyone on the same hardware as me experiencing this same issue? Anyone at ASUS like to tell us what the go is?

Hi @Bloatware I am currently using Windows 11 but I have used Windows 10 for a long period of time. I have never seen Windows 10 create any reserved partitions on a different drive if the primary drive is properly partitioned.
If you would like, you can try the following option:
I hope this helps. In my post, I have shown that nothing goes on any additional drive. I have 6 drives in my system.

Hello @Bloatware
Could you please confirm which slot your current M.2 SSDs are installed in, and are they connected using any extension cables or adapters?
Is the newly added SSD being used as a second system drive or just for general storage?
Besides the error messages in the Event Viewer, have you noticed any other issues, such as extended boot times or BSOD?
Based on the situation and error messages you shared, in addition to ensuring that all drivers and firmware are up to date, please refer to the BIOS Manual to confirm that your settings align with your needs and specifications, such as Boot Order and PCI Express Configuration.
Additionally, due to the error messages, please consider whether a BIOS update might be necessary, as your current version is 3701, while the latest version is 3802.
Thank you.
