I'm getting error code 4D on my motherboard every time I do cold boot.
My specs are
MOBO : X670E-E GAMING WIFI
CPU : ryzen 9 7950X
GPU : AMD RX 7900 XTX
RAM : ACER PREDATOR VESTA II DDR5 4800mhz
BIOS : LATEST 3304, released on 25th September 2025
I don't have expo enabled, I was getting error with /without expo enabled.
Observation:
Sometimes when I press and hold F2 and press power button it boots straight to bios, but that's not consistent.
Things I have already tried.
Clearing CMOS
Reseating Processor, RAM, GPU and every cable and connections.
Ran mem86 overnight to check if RAM is faulty, it isn't.
More INFO:
This issue happens only with 1st boot of the day, and usually when I press and hold power button after getting the error system reboots and I get this AMI screen
Reason why it is difficult to pinpoint the issue causing component is because 2nd or 3rd boot will definitely work.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
A little history on how it all began.
One fine day i was doing something with the PC i really dont recall what it was , was it cleaning or what.
fast forward when i press power button i get error code 4D and system stuck , i tried to get it to POST did everthing like unpluggin it from wall reaseating RAM, still same issue , I contact asus chat support that guy told me to go to BIOS , by pressing F2, he clearly did not understand , my issue , the system was not POSTing so no way to go to BIOS, still I press and hold F2 and then press the power button , voila it POSTed but since then one 1st cold boot it has to shove that 4D error on next retry it goes away.
I kept doing this ritual of trying twice to boot, for a while.
And one day in July I decided to redo everything unplugged all the cables CPU, MEMORY,GPU, WIFI everything
rebuilt the whole system after cleaning them,
It did work for few days I was not getting the 4D error, system would boot one go, but again the issue started appearing even though nothing has changed the system was literally untouched for this whole time since last cleaning that I did in July.
What I'm doing right now is i have pasted colored stickynotes on ram and trying different combinations
i have 4 sticks each one with distinct color marking
Colors - Red,Blue,Green,Yellow
Cold boot result for 2 stick combination
Red + Blue = 4D
Red + Green = 4D
Yellow + Blue = 4D
will update the status for all stick combination in coming days.

Hi @r4vr4n
Can you first confirm whether this happens at Optimised Defaults? (No EXPO/DOCP)

hi @Silent_Scone
first of thanks for taking your time to respond,
yes, all bios settings are at default, no expo or any kind of other overclocking. still getting this error. i have also updated my original message to cover more info.

Hi, consider remounting again - doesn't mention you've done this. If using a third-party CPU contact frame, remove this and use the stock retention mechanism.
