the disaplay port seems to not connect on my motherboard which isnt a huge problem because of graphics card connection but due to the resale value of the part dropping, i would like to get to the bottom of this before its impossible to return or exchange.

May I ask if you are currently unable to output video signals from the integrated graphics?
Could you provide the specifications of your installed CPU and connected DisplayPort cable you are using, as well as if you have tested other connection cables?
What is the current BIOS version and whether you have adjusted the primary display settings in the BIOS?

It would be helpful if you could share more detailed hardware specifications and context regarding the situation.
Or you might also consider testing with a different CPU or connection cables to see if that resolves the issue.

Are you using a CPU that has integrated graphics?  If the model is a KF, then it has no integrated graphics.
