Crosshair X870E Hero Sound problem in linux

fixed77
Level 7

I have a Crosshair X870E Hero motherboard. But I'm also having a sound problem in Ubuntu 24.04.
I'm using the rear ports to connect the speakers and microphone. The speakers work fine, but the microphone doesn't work.
In the list of input audio devices, the connected microphone is listed as Line-in USB Audio. Not as a microphone, but as Line-in.
Consequently, there's no sound from the microphone.
In pavucontrol, the Microphone port is marked as unplugged. The active port is Line-in .
I tried connecting the microphone to the front port, but that didn't work either.
The problem is probably that the device or driver isn't correctly detecting the connected device.

How can this be fixed?
The microphone works in Windows, but my primary system is Linux.
