Crosshair X670E Hero WIFI MB issue when backing up boot Gen5

Hello,

I have searched the internet and also used AI to find answers to my issue. I have the Crosshair X670E Hero wifi motherboard with BIOS at default settings. Rrecently I purchased a second Gen5 NVME drive to add to the CPU bus,  that is, a Boot Gen 5 and then Backup Gen5 in recommended slots.

I have an AIO on my 9000x3d and when I use Macrim backup software (Medium compression) to backup the boot drive to the second drive the Rated TDP goes from 120 W to 145W and the temperature of CPU can spike at 84C which is in the danger soon as the package is 94C. Is this to be expected or is there a way to reduce this? Could it be related to my AIO or something else?

Hi @Free2beeeMe

If you're reading the CPU Tctl/Tdie or Package sensor then this will be considerably higher than the CCD or otherwise die temperature. These CPUs do tend to run quite warm despite the low powerdraw.

Here is a full custom loop using a PMT7950 phase-change pad @ 155W in CR20. As seen, the package temperature exceeds 70c.

Thanks very much for your reply, that  information makes me feel better and not so worried about my CPU/AIO combination. 🙂

No problem, it helps to remember that the package reading is a weighted average of the hottest reported sensor reading
