Hi, Sorry if this has been posted before, but cannot find anything relevant to help right now
New Build using ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO / AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D / GPU GALAX RTX 3080 Ti SG (1-Click OC) 12GB GDDR6X / NZXT KRAKEN Z63 RL-KRZ63-01/ Hyte Y70 Case
Have worked my way through various issues and resolved (Orange Post LED Memory Tuning, Plus a Few Others)
I have the Hyte Nexus Software installed for the case Touch Screen, and also the NZXT Cam Software for the AIO Cooler and Fans
And not sure if my latest issue is to do with this software or possibly earlier other fault fixes (Lost track of all the things I did haha)
But Now, when I either reboot, or start afresh, watching the motherboard LED’s it seems to post normally there, Asus Motherboard Bios screen comes up for the normal amount if time, but then immediately goes to a black screen for maybe 40 seconds and longer, after this prolonged time it starts fine, but it never before “hung” on this black screen for this amount of time ?
Watching the Motherboard HDD Indicator LED. It also seems to “Hang” there too, ie nothing accessing the Hard Drive during this extended pause
I am at a loss really now of how to fix this ?
Because as I said, initially once I sorted the orange memory tuning issue it booted fine
Sure once found it would be an easy fix, and posting here in the hope it has happened to someone too and can help me Please ?
Best Regards
Phil
Ps: Running Windows 11
BIOS 2124
Memory: 64Gb Gskil F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR
PSU Dark Power Pro 13 1600W
EXPO Enabled for the 6000
No Overclocking or anything Else
Armoury Crate and Also GameFirst VI
Last Bios Time 19.8 Seconds in Task Manager, although before that when i looked was 14 Seconds, But its much longer than that

Received this reply but could not find it here to answer ? anyway:

Hi @CrawfordTaylor
Can you confirm the Q-CODE at the time the system hangs? Please note that memory training may take this long, or up to 2 to 3 minutes initially depending on the memory configuration.
Once stability has been established with EXPO, you can enable Memory Context Restore to reduce POST times. This function retains the last known successful memory training at POST, following a subsequent reboot after applying it.
Pretty sure not memory tuning, as that was an Orange 15 LED, which i just got again with updating BIOS
So now LEDS appear fine (Hovers on 40 while booting)
Everything appears normal, just straight after boot/Bios screen it hangs or whatever it is doing for an extended time before welcome/Sign in Screen appears
09-24-2024 12:56 AM
Are you able to verify if the behaviour persists with no USB devices connected to the system?
09-25-2024 04:42 PM
Yes, Just removed all USB and made zero difference
I am now looking at the Memory Context Restore Settings: (Although it does not hang at Orange LED15 anymore) Trying anything Basically
Extreme Tweaker\DRAM Timing Control\Memory Context Restore\Enabled
Advanced\AMB CBS\UMC Options\DDR Options\DDR Memory Features\Memory Context Restore\Enabled
That is how i have set them from another post, but also saw a post where it said leave the one in "Advanced" unchecked and just do the one in Extreme Tweaker
09-25-2024 05:57 PM - edited 09-25-2024 07:17 PM
Ok, So with the USB not making a difference and my thoughts centred around memory context I tried the following:
Bios was set like this (after reading other posts, plus the fact it did not hang on orange LED15
Extreme Tweaker\DRAM Timing Control\Memory Context Restore\Enabled
Advanced\AMB CBS\UMC Options\DDR Options\DDR Memory Features\Memory Context Restore\Enabled
So reading another post where it said leave advanced setting off
Changed to to:
Extreme Tweaker\DRAM Timing Control\Memory Context Restore\Enabled
Advanced\AMB CBS\UMC Options\DDR Options\DDR Memory Features\Memory Context Restore\DISABLED
First post, Hung on LED Orange15 😊 AND same long black screen post
Then Restarted:
Orange15 Hang Same Long Black Screen Post
Shutdown and Start:
Same Result
Changed to:
Extreme Tweaker\DRAM Timing Control\Memory Context Restore\Enabled
Advanced\AMB CBS\UMC Options\DDR Options\DDR Memory Features\Memory Context Restore\AUTO
First post, Hung on LED Orange15 😊 AND same long black screen post
Restarted Hung OrangeLED15 and then Qcode 44 (memory Training?) Same Long Black Screen Hmmm
Shut Down Restart:
No hang on Orange LED15 Seemed to Post Normally
BUT, same long Black Screen before Login hmmm ☹
Getting Nowhere with this
Ok, One Last Restart and will Video the Motherboard Q Codes
Q Codes in Red Top Right
Directly Below maybe 8 Inches is orange HDD Activity Light (Think I may have blocked it out sorry)
No Clue what to try now and cannot upload the video here, but nothing i think now to do with Memory Context Hmmm
Would Hate to do a clean install, all the programs and settings to have to reload tune etc 😞
Once it actually starts is running lovely 😞

Hello @CrawfordTaylor
Thank you for reaching out to us, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delayed reply.
If you suspect that a potential software conflict is causing the long booting time, we recommend removing all related software or disconnecting all drives to check the PC status during boot.
Regarding the issue of the system not powering on, showing no display, or failing to boot with Q-code 40, this code typically indicates a CPU, memory, or GPU error on AMD motherboards, while Q-code 15 points to a CPU and memory error.
We recommend referring to the instructions in [Motherboard] Common Q-CODE (Error CODE) and Troubleshooting, as well as the ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO user manual, to verify that all hardware connections are correct, including checking for any bent CPU pins and ensuring that the memory is installed in the recommended DIMM_A2 and B2 slots.
Additionally, please try clearing CMOS and booting with the default BIOS settings without enabling EXPO or making any manual adjustments, and refer to [Motherboard] Troubleshooting - No Power/No Boot/No Display if needed.
Thank you.

Many thanks for your reply, I have tried just about everything (apart from a full reinstall which i am loath to do) Have done a windwos install repair from media creator, have completely uninstalled graphics drivers and fresh reinstall. CMOS clear, reinstall latest Bios, everything i can think of
It will start fine and fast in "Safe Mode"
In MSCONFIG Services i Hid all Microsoft Services as reccommended and disabled ALL my services, Result ? Same slow startup, suggesting it is a Microsoft Service that is causing this ? Works fine safe mode ?
Am somewhat at a loss what to try next ?

Hello @CrawfordTaylor
Based on your description, we recommend minimizing the hardware setup to isolate the issue: Remove the chassis and only install the CPU on the motherboard (ensure no bent pins) using integrated graphics output, a single memory module in the DIMM_A2 slot, and the PSU, and clear CMOS before checking the boot status with the default BIOS settings.
If no Q-LED indicators light up but there is still a slow boot, you may want to consider updating to the latest BIOS version 2403, released on 2024/09/27, and check again.
If the DRAM Q-LED or Q-code 15 still appears, we suggest cross-testing with another CPU or memory module.
Thank you.

Thanks for your reply, Have updated to latest BIOS, is much better now and only long boots now and again
Your suggestion is a little extreme for me, especially when once it boots everything runs perefectly, but thanks again for the suggestion
Still pretty sure it is something to do with the combination of
Extreme Tweaker\DRAM Timing Control\Memory Context Restore\****
Advanced\AMB CBS\UMC Options\DDR Options\DDR Memory Features\Memory Context Restore\****
And the DDR5 Memory Hmmm
