CPU light keeps coming on when gaming

When gaming the CPU light keep coming on on my motherboard, its probably temperature related. As seen by the screenshots my CPU temps will reach 100c regardless. I change the thermal paste every 3 months and was last changed just over a week ago so that isn't the issue. Sometimes my PC will crash/freeze and motherboard will show code 04 when temps go over 100c. I've had my AIO around 4-5 years and i don't think that's the issue as the temps in ICUE for the AIO are still ok at around 42c when gaming.

I'm trying to get this fixed before BF6 & BO7 release. any ideas on fixes?

I've tried running my RAM at 6000MHz & 6200MHz to see if that would help but hasn't.

My only thought is to underclock the cpu but i don't really know how to underclock and don't want to mess anything up.

Hi @Marky7z

Yep, definitely wise to get this sorted before Battlefield 6.

The coolant temperature being around 42 °C doesn’t necessarily mean the AIO is working properly, it just means the coolant loop isn’t transferring much heat from the CPU.

If your CPU is hitting 100 °C almost instantly under load, but the coolant remains in the 40s, that usually points to a contact issue between the CPU and cold plate, or degraded pump performance.

Inspect the CPU mount and apply a fresh TIM application - retest.

Hello, @Silent_Scone Thanks for replying

I have inspected the CPU & the Mount and appied new thermal paste. All looks ok and thermal paste was spread all across the CPU. (I have one of those Intel contact frames on my motherboard that stops the CPU bending overtime). I Loaded up the BO7 Beta and as soon as i got into a game, 100c on the temps.

Do you think it'll be wise to get a new AIO since mine it atleast 5 years old or try underclocking the CPU first to see if that works?
