corsair dark hero viii and m.2 not booting

Hello all,

Last night I wanted to reimage my computer using a Win 10 iso image and install the OS to my nvme instead of the SATA SSD that was housing my OS before.

I have went round and round with this mobo and nvme and can't see to make things click. 😞

I have got the motherboard to see the drive in EZ mode on the bios, but when I select it as my first boot priority I get thrown to a screen saying " No OS was found please select proper boot Media and restart". Mind you this is after I just partitioned my nvme in the WIN 10 iso media installer. ( I know it has windows on it to because when I run advanced troubleshooting feature and run Diskpart in CMD I can see the nvme is mapped with the letter C:/Windows).

These are a list of things I've done to at least get the Mobo to see the nvme.

1. Updated bios to the newest version 4602 x.

2. Enabled CSM (Leagcy only) is what is selected on the storage section.

3. Reset the bios to default setting via F5 key.

4. Other OS is selected versus windows UEFi in the secure boot section.

Parts-

  • Ryzen 7 5800x
  • AMD power color red devil 7900 XTX
  • Crucial Ballistix 32 GB ddr4
  • Westren Digital black SN750 SE 1TB nvme (drive that is having issues)

If someone can please give some ideas or assistance that would be greatly appreciate. Whoever knew that this would be such a headache.

Hello, @BigT

Could you please clarify whether, during the mentioned operations, you had both an NVMe M.2 SSD and a SATA SSD installed simultaneously, or was only the NVMe M.2 SSD installed independently?
Additionally, can your BIOS currently detect the NVMe M.2 SSD?
If it is recognized, we recommend clearing the CMOS and trying to update the firmware and drivers for the NVMe SSD, considering formatting it, or testing it in different slots.
If the issue persists despite these efforts, kindly provide the following information:
- The specific slot in which the NVMe M.2 SSD is installed
- Images of the BIOS main page and the BIOS section where the NVMe M.2 SSD is recognized
- Images of any BIOS settings you manually adjusted after clearing the CMOS, such as changing boot order or enabling CSM
- An image displays the message "No OS was found, please select proper boot media and restart."
Please provide a comprehensive video recording of your actions. This should include the installation process, the status of the NVMe SSD in the BIOS, the steps leading to the inability to install the operating system, and any error messages encountered, if possible.

Thank you.

Try with CSM disabled and then with enabled (when I was updating the OS, the CSM was disabled). However, it was on the same drive.

To install OS on NVME M.2, you might need to go the USB route (make a bootable USB using Rufus and using the ISO image you have, then boot from the USB you made, and install Windows on the M.2 drive).

To make sure you don't lose the Windows activation (as Microsoft defines changing motherboard or hard disk as significant hardware changes after which Windows needs to be re-activated), use one of several methods to ensure you know your windows key, or link the activation to your Microsoft account. Read up on both (how to find the key and how to link activation to your MS account) before you proceed.
