Constant reboots on ASUS X670E-E

Hi all,

just wanted to check with the community if anyone has the same issues with this board/

ISSUE: constant reboots of the system, whether it's in BIOS, GRUB loader, Windows, Ubuntu. Can be under a load or just idle or at start of applications. The system just powers off fully, then goes for long into the state Yellow, Code 15, then often in Yellow, Code 00 (not even defined in the guide). The reboots are random, like the system can keep working for a few days, then suddenly reboot and keeps rebooting for days. The only identified trigger, like 100% reboot, is to start a game Atomic Heart.

I am so tired with this piece of ASUS unfinished product that almost ready to remove the board and crash with a hammer (bought it for 500 USD 😞 Just wanted to check if anyone has the same issue and whether it makes sense to give on this board and ASUS

System: AMD 7800X3D, ASUS X670E-E updated all latest drivers and BIOS 3205, no overclocking, no additional tweaks in BIOS, Memory  Trident Z5 2x32GB (tried 3 different kits!!! and even much lower specs like 3600MT, no help), NVIDIA 4090, PSU of 1.3 KW, 2 TB Crucial, all fans are at max, no temperate across all components above 55C, no errors in Windows, memcheck showed no errors in memory, no errors on the hard drive, nothing...

NB: the previous similar board died after 13 month and same issues. Now the replacement is showing the same issues just after 4 months
Attached a pictures from tonight, keeps crashing, going to state 15, then to state 0016096AE8-1B2C-4DB4-9B41-F7B286FE5B41.jpg8E94F4E3-F4D6-4377-BF87-FD79CF478BFF.jpg

Tried to raise a support ticket with ASUS and for the last 30 mins they don't accept it by email... what a companyScreenshot 2025-08-05 at 9.30.04 PM.png

I can move this thread to ROG Care for attention of service. What makes you think you can't send by email? Might be a connection or temp issue.

In regards to your issue, have you tried to remount the CPU? That particular AIO can be clamped down hard, ensure there isn't any excess mounting pressure and inspect the socket / CPU - pin pad. The fact you had issues with the previous board would lend me to think it's possibly the CPU.

Please also keep in mind EXPO is running past default specification. Run the system at Optimised Defaults to confirm the issue is still present if not having done so already.

Thanks Slient_Scone, if moving ti ROG Care can help, then yes - agree.

On the support ticket, just check the window again and it still says the same "The mail case is being sent, please wait.". I hope the support ticket was accepted and someone from ASUS Middle East will contact me.

On your suggestion, I don't think it's CPU. 1. After the replacement, I had to install a normal fan (not the one on the picture) as asus took some parts for the pump by accident. I checked the CPU and applied a new thermoglue, everything was fine, but the issues were happening. 2. I reinstalled the pump in June, again checking the cpu and applying a new thermoglue. Everything was fine, but did not use much the PC until recently when the issue appeared again. 3. Last night (after a full shutdown), I removed all usb connections (keyboard and mouse) and started a CPU stress testfor 10 hours with a remote ssh connection. No problems at all. the CPU was at 85-88C for 10 hours, not a single reboot. See pictured attached.

I still think it is the motherboard because:

- A) the replacement board I got is from the same batch as my original. They were both produced in Jan 2023 and literally their serial numbers are very close (ASUS can check). The originally board died in two steps, with the LAN card dying first and then the board after 2 months. ASUS never told me that anything was damaged on the original board.

- B) over 18 months, none of the reboots have ended up with a CPU error. It's always Orange Light with code 15 or code 00. Nothing else.

- C) the reboots typically happen when I start something, like clicking on the application or starting windows, and it always like a complete power off (all devices like mouse and keyboard lose power immediately). Feels more like VRM or some  wiring goes nuts

On your suggestions "Run the system at Optimised Defaults ..." - is this in BIOS or windows? not sure what it means

NB: attached are screen caps of a 10-hour CPU burn, no issues at all, but as I said it was through SSHScreenshot 2025-08-06 at 12.55.44 PM.pngScreenshot 2025-08-06 at 12.49.50 PM.png

It means to run with no EXPO, or any overclocking of any kind. Clear the CMOS and do not change any parameters.

Thanks for replying, attached some details below

And on another note, what does Orange Code (Memory) with )) mean? In the manual it says "Not used"

A Typo. Orange Code = 00

CPU contact pressure, faulty CPU, debris or damage to the pin-pad, socket pressure or surrounding mounts overtorqued, or a motherboard issue. Remove CPU contact frame if using one and revert to the stock retention mechanism.

I'm experiencing issues of my own.
x670e crosshair, 9950x3d, rtx 4090.
I've had the systems since x670e release and upgraded to the 9950x and all that time no issues.
I primarily run ubuntu as my development env (and gaming) and since the bios update (3205) ollama causes "CPU Softlock / Taint" errors and my GPU disconnects when booted into x11/wayland ... fine when there's no graphical load ... (I ssh into the machine after the X11 locks up and `dmesg` shows the hardware errors coming from nvida card, i've tried all the drivers from 550.x-580.x all the same, and kernel 6.8-6.14)
I run windows 11 on a separate drive and now that just locks up and crashes when a window renders (Even did a fresh windows 11 install and still the same issue).
Glad I found this because I was going crazy ... I'm going to try and rollback the BIOS in a few, but I have work I need to get done, will report back.

(I get the "15" QCode (orange LED) as well when it needs to retrain memory, however after a few minutes it comes back with reset with "CPU FAN ERROR" ... when it would take to long i'd reset CMOS, this is the gskill kit i use: F5-6800J3446F48GX2-RS5K)
