So i've had this issue since i built my pc, everything works fine and i have no problems except for this one, everytime i restart my pc (not turning on and off) my screen freezes at the motherboard logo and bios acces instructions and it doesn't go further than that, i can't access bios when this happens and it's like the screen is just completely frozen. I found a small work around it though, by turning my pc off after it freezes from a restart, i unplug any USB peripherals from the back IO and then turn it on again, i have no idea why but after doing this the computer can turn on fine, i have to mention that if i restart it, it freezes, i turn it off without unplugging anything it will stay frozen even after i turn it on again, i tried updating all drivers, updating my bios and tweaking with some booting options but i couldn't fix that issue, and to be fair having to uplug ,turn off and on my pc each time i reboot it is getting frustrating. Is there any solutions?
Here are my specs :
Ryzen 9 5900X
RTX 3080
16GB 3600MHz RAM (2x8GB)
ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING WIFI II
M.2 KINGSTON SA1000M8 240G
HDD TOSHIBA DTO1ACA300
Dark Power Pro 11 850W 80+ Platinum be quiet!
Corsair AIO H100X
I got my storage from my computer before this one and i count on changing it soon but also to see if it has anything to do with that.

Hi @Shidaro
Best to list what's connected. Some devices still still struggle with XHCI compliance etc.

i got a G502 SE for a mouse, a razer huntsman V2 for my keyboard, and i also have a connection to my monitor that makes me able to plug usb peripherals to the back of my monitor, i have tried to reboot with just my keyboard and mouse though and it still froze, also i just realized now that if i wait a bit at the frozen screen my bios opens up automatically and there is no override boot options, my M.2 with windows just doesn't show up for some reason.

Hi @Shidaro have you tried disabling FAST BOOT and LOGO DISPLAY? You can refer to https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-motherboards/z790-dark-hero-bios-1302-logo-patch-bsod-with-mult... post of mine showing where these options are that you DISABLE.

Hey! It actually works now thanks a lot but do you know the reason for it?

Okay, little issue here, i went too fast by accepting it as a soultion, so disabling fast boot and logo display didn't make me able to reboot without turning on and off my pc, but when i reboot, then power off and turn on again it works, i don't need to unplug any USB device to do it anymore but i still have to turn my pc on and off after a reboot of any kind, do you have an idea to why it still doesn't work 100% as intended?

Hi @Shidaro I am glad to hear that you are making progress. I would like to get a better understanding of your issue. Here's what I am understanding please confirm if there is an issue or mistake in my understanding.
SOFT BOOT IS NOT WORKING - If your computer has started properly and you are able to get into Windows, when you choose RESTART from the START button, the computer REBOOTS but then gets stuck which then finally takes you into the BIOS and you are not able to see your M.2 Drive where you have Windows installed.
POWER CYCLE IS WORKING - To solve this issue that M.2 Drive is not recognized, you typically have to use the POWER ON/OFF button on your power supply to turn it off by cutting all power to your computer. Then when you start your computer everything works properly. This is what you are referring to turn ON and OFF?
HARD BOOT IS NOT WORKING - If your computer has started properly and you are able to get into Windows, then you choose SHUTDOWN from the START button, next you press the POWER ON button on your case to turn on the computer and are stuck again just like SOFT BOOT i.e. as if you chose RESTART as an option.
What version of Windows are you using? Windows 10 or Windows 11? What flavor of Windows like HOME or PRO? What release of Windows like 23H2 etc.?
Which slot do you have your M.2 drive installed in? The one closer to CPU (M.2_1) or the one away from it (M.2_2).

So for the soft boot not working it's exactly how you explained, with fast boot and logo display enabled (because i still haven't tried with them disabled) the screen would get frozen at the bios access instructions and then after some time it takes me to it automatically, after that i cannot see any boot override options, but whenever i just shut down my pc and then turn it on again to access the bios everything shows up fine and i can see my M.2 in the boot options.
Now for the power cycle not working, so to have my pc turn on fine i do not have to cut all power to it, i just use the power button and it works after "turning it on and off" with the button, i don't touch the power supply in this workaround.
Hard boot is working fine after shutting down my pc, it doesn't get stuck, the freeze just happens after any reboot of any kind, it can be saving bios settings, using the restart button directly on my case, or simply pressing restart in windows. I can use shut down and the power button without issues.
I'm using Windows 11 Pro 23H2.
And for the M.2, I have it installed in the slot nearest to the CPU.

Hi @Shidaro , thank you for sharing all this information. I understand that your issue is purely with a Windows RESTART (or SOFT BOOT) only.
Since you mentioned, you are using an older NVMe drive, is it possible that your NVMe drive is overheating? You can use software tools like HWiNFO to check the temperature of your NVMe drive.
One quick way to see if it is a temperature issue that comes to my mind is, after you have SHUTDOWN your machine for a day, next morning upon the first start of the machine, as soon as you enter into Windows, immediately RESTART it and see if the restart goes through properly. If it does then we are on the right track that your NVMe is overheating and causing issues for you.
NOTE: I am assuming that you do have the small plastic label with ASUS words written on it removed from the motherboard when you inserted your NVMe drive. If you have not removed this transparent plastic paper then first thing you need to do is remove this transparent protective layer so the underlying heat pad (blue or grey) touches your NVMe drive BOTH at the top and bottom of the drive.

Alright so i instantly restarted my pc this morning and it still froze and just went to the bios after some time on its own with again no storage showing up in the boot override options, i also checked the temperature with HWinFO and it's at a stable 37°C, so it's not overheating.
