Code 4F - No more boot

Hello,

I'm writing here because I'm at a loss for what to do; my PC refuses to boot into Windows. There's a 4F code on the QCODE, and the CPU LED stays solid red (no beeps).

Here's what I've tried so far:

  • Removing and re-seating the CPU
  • Placing a single RAM stick in the A2 slot, then both sticks (A2 and B2)
  • Removing each peripheral one by one
  • Booting without a graphics card
  • Clearing the CMOS

My setup:

  • Ryzen 5 5600X
  • ASUS ROG STRIX B550 E GAMING WIFI
  • 32 GB (2 x 16GB) 3200MHz DDR4 Trident Z (F4-3200C16d-32GTZRX)
  • AMD Radeon 6800 XT Midnight Black
  • Corsair RM850 80 Plus Gold (Fully Modular)
  • Phanteks Evolv X Midi Tower
  • Thermaltake TH360 V2 Ultra ARGB Watercooling
  • Win10 64-bit activated

The CPU seems to be in good condition with no bent pins or dirt, and the motherboard socket appears clean as well. I've seen forum threads where an RMA fixed this issue. My motherboard was purchased in July 2021, so it is still under warranty with ASUS.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any assistance you can provide. I appreciate your help.

Hello,

I had the idea of removing my processor and lending it to a colleague at work so he could test it on his machine, but in the meantime, I thought I hadn't tried updating the BIOS.

So, I updated the BIOS (My version was dated 2022), and the computer booted up correctly without any more issues with the red CPU LED or error codes.

I won't know what caused my issue overnight, but it seems to be resolved. Time will tell!

I'm closing the topic.
