Can't run expo speeds with ROG Strix 870e-e wifi gaming motherboard

Hi everyone,

I have an ASUS ROG Strix 870e-e gaming WiFi motherboard paired up with a 9800x3d.  For RAM, I've got Corsair 2 x 32GB dominator titanium that are 6000 mhz (CMP64GX5M2B6000Z30).  It's on the QVL, and I'm on the latest BIOS.

The problem is every time I enable EXPO, about 25% of boot ups or waking from sleep makes the system slow and stutter like crazy. The stutter affects windows itself. If I reboot, the system runs normally again. I originally had G. Skill ram (2 x 32gb of 6000mhz; F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR, also on the QVL) but I switched it to Corsair and nothing changed. If I turn off expo, the system runs without issues.

I've tried turning off and on memory context restore, power down enable, and even setting the timings manually. Anyone else have this issue or any ideas to fix it?

Thanks

Hello hydrus

Make sure your memory is installed in the Correct slots A2-B2 (2nd and 4th slots from the cpu).

I'm not sure what timings you tried, but something easy to try is:

1) Enable EXPO.

2) Go to Dram Timing Control and set the primary timings to:

40

40

40

90

Command Rate - 2N

3) Hit F10 and Enter to save and exit.

Are you able to boot?

I can’t find the command rate option. Unfortunately with the timings you provided the problem still happens

I got the same problem after upgrading from 7600 to 9800x3d x870e hero

I wonder if this is a BIOS bug with the 9800x3d

Bro same I have the strix x870e-e and 9800x3d

Same exact issue with expo, stuttering like crazy from startup

I think I'm gonna return this board and get an ASRock instead. I don't wanna pay 500 for something that doesn't work 100%
