Can I upgrade Asus ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI II up to 192GB

Dear All,

I plan on buying Asus ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI II motherboard.

It's said to support up to 192GB

I've read a post saying you need to leave 2 slots of Asus ROG free, otherwise if you use all 4 of them, it will limit the speed. My question is does that relate to Asus ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI II?

If so, can I use at least 3 slots x 48GB with this motherboard without having to worry the speed will drop?

Otherwise I don't understand what's the point of announcing it supports up to 192GB if you can't use at its full speed.

Also, do I need to update the motherboard bios to use 48GB rams?

Hello, @Jacob180381

According to the specifications of the ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI II, it does indeed support 4 x DIMM slots with a maximum memory capacity of 192GB.
For memory specifications, please refer to [Motherboard] How to query (CPU/memory) QVL List?, the memory QVL for the ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI II, and the "purchasing and installation guide" on that page.
Regarding memory installation, kindly consult page 1- 4 of the ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI II User’s Manual ( English Edition ).
If your memory is two modules in a kit, please install them in the DIMM_A2 and B2 slots.

Thank you.
