BIOS screen to large with cramped text, please help!

Good morning guys. Last week I built my gaming pc with the following cpu and gpu:

  1. Motherboard: Rog Strix X870-A Gaming Wifi.
  2. CPU: Ryzen 7 9700X
  3. GPU: Sapphire Pulse RX 7800 XT.

When I built it, the BIOS looked perfectly fine. I managed to install windows, and I even play Helldivers 2 a little bit. The day after I built it, I noticed that the Asus Logo (the one that says "Republic of Gamers") was too large and cut (see first picture), but the BIOS setup was looking fine. Now, the day before yesterday I checked the BIOS to find the option for the Wake On Lan, and the BIOS was still looking fine (I didn't make any change) and just kept watching youtube videos and listening some music. Now, the day after, I checked again to activate the WOL and I saw that the BIOS has that weird and cramped look (second pic). I have tried everything to fix it, like clearing the CMOS, loading the optimized settings on the BIOS, enabling Full Display, the bcdedit.exe highestmode on trick, and so on. Nothing has worked. Windows and even my games are fine and unaffected, just the BIOS. When I unplug the GPU and connect the motherboard direct to my tv, the BIOS looks great again (third picture), but whenever I plug the GPU, it will look awful. I updated the BIOS and the GPU both have the latest versions. Nothing has worked so far. I have no clue what could have caused since I haven't change anything to mess the resolution up. Like I mentioned before, the first day I built it everything was looking fine, using my tv and a 8K HDMI cable.

Hi @KJTEJ

Haven't seen this one before. Under Tools, you'll see an option for HD BIOS Setup. Make sure this is set to disabled, then Save & Exit. Retry using the discrete GPU.

Hello. Could you please elaborate what "Tools" tab you mean? I can't find that tab on the BIOS. I did find a "Full Display Setup" option and I already tried disabling it, retry, and then enabling it again and didn't work. The GPU is active and is what I'm currently using, but the BIOS still looking the same

Tools is definitely a menu within the UEFI. If you can't find it, use the search function and search HD BIOS.

Nothing with that name. And I tried just searching "BIOS" and only BIOS Image Rollback Support shows. When I try searching "HD" only Core Watchdog Timer Enable, Full HD Setup y HDMI 3.0G Tx SLEW shows. When I try "HD BIOS" nothing pops up.

*The Full HD Setup is what I already tried, just in case.

Ok. Not sure in that case, definitely bizarre.

I've not seen that behaviour before. Hopefully, customer service can weigh in on it

How do I get in touch with customer service or technical service here? Do I have to tag someone specifically? It's annoying. Just the BIOS and the boot logo has that stretched look. Everything else is fine. I don't know what else do.

@Jiaszzz_ROG  from the CS team frequents the ROG Care section, however please don't tag mods 👍

If they're able to help, they will. If not you can obviously go directly to CS for your region

Hopefully he'll be able to help. I just don't know what the h is causing it. I've tried everything I found on reddit and on this forums. Only the BIOS and the boot logo are like this

Well guys, I finally solved it. After many attempts, modifications, and wasted time, I found the culprit. I had to change the display's refresh rate in Windows from 60Hz (yeah, I know) to 30Hz, rebooted, and now the boot logo and BIOS have the correct resolution and look great. But if I change it to 59.94Hz or 60Hz, it looks cramped and distorted again. Funny thing is, when it's set to 60Hz but connected to the integrated graphics (with the GPU unplugged), it looks fine whether it's 60Hz or 30Hz. So, this only happens when the display runs through the GPU.

I'm not sure if there's a possible fix for this or not, but so far, I won't mess with the BIOS so no big deal. It's annoying to see the initial logo all stretched and distorted, but I guess I will have to deal with it. It's my fault for going AMD xD

Note: Now I have a different problem. My steam shortcurts are missing the icons. All I have are blank icons on the desktop (only steam games, windows and the rest are fine).
