B650a Gaming Wifi Motherboard Reboot/ Post Issues

I am hoping someone has experienced this weird issue or similar as we can't even find the cause. For a few months now whenever I needed to restart my gaming PC from a software update, and it didn't matter if it was wWindows or gaming app/ software. It would start the normal reboot phase and get stuck with the amber light on my motherboard and no image on monitor. I would then hold my case power button to turn off PC, and then click it to turn back on and would turn on with no issue and completed the updated. Sometimes it would come and go. I took it to Micro Center and we tried to diagnose it but wouldn't show anything. So it was something I would have to deal with sometimes on reboots. I've had a few GPU's lately to try and currently have a Gigabyte Aero 4080 Super. I never suspected the GPU being the issue cause it happened with 2 other GPU''s that were used briefly, one being AMD. However, over the last month since I've had this GPU I enable EXPO and I do not do any manually overclocking but let the new Nvidia app do the automatic tuning which is really cool, so I don't use GeFoce Experience anymore or Control Panel much since they are combining into this new application I believe? Anyway, same issue persists however, now I can't really get it to turn back on. When it would sit on the amber light I would turn it off and on and usually work. Now on reboots or if I'm turning it on it will sit on the green boot light I think it says? When it has happened the only way I can get it to work is keep trying off and on and hope, maybe reflash bios, but mainly I have to remove CMOS battery. It's the strangest thing and it really only seems to be when overclocking is happening I think. It hasn't happened for about a week but noticed the Nvidia automatic tuning was on 0, last night it rescanned and went to +165 and VRAM +150. And I am pretty confident these are very little when it comes to overclocking since its just their automatic tuning. Everything runs great and no crashes or anything of that nature, but had this issue even just with EXPO enabled. And yes, I have tried everything in the book. Micro Center look at it, reinstall windows, DDU and all new drivers, update BIOS, you name it and I've tried it. Like I mentioned it's not my new GPU cause it did it with the past ones but I just notice it has gotten worse and wont turn on. Sounds silly, but can an AIO affect this at all? I have the Lian Li square screen and hate this thing. It's so buggy and if my monitor flickers the AIO screen flickers or cuts out which is the strangets thing and the image wouldn't appear right on the AIO. But all my temps are good and everything runs smooth but if the Nvidia auto overclock adds a boost and EXPO 6000 enabled shouldn't affect the POST cycle should it? I've attached a few pics of mainly the amber color when I would have to restart my PC from an update turning my PC off to back on; to know how it will sit at this green light. Sometimes I get lucky or sometimes I have reset battery. very very frustrating. No idea what it could be. I have heard someones MB wouldn't POST because their MB thought their mouse usb plug in was a boot drive? If anyone has experience or the cause of this would be awesome as I can't get any help on it. If it helps to knpw specs: CPU: 7800x3D RAM: DDR5 t force 6000. SeaSonic 1000 W gold PS. Samsung 2TB 990 pro SSD (what my windows is on currently, and yes i've even used another SSD). If it matters monitor is a Samsung G8 4k 32" 240Hz, I only use display port. IMG_6525.jpgIMG_6508.jpgIMG_6506.jpgIMG_6509.jpgIMG_6505.jpg

Hello @Revell25

Thank you for reaching out to us.
According to the user manual, if the indicator light at the position is on, it indicates that a memory issue was detected during the power-on self-test.

If the DRAM Q-LED indicator lights on and the system is unable to boot or restart, please refer to the troubleshooting steps in [Motherboard] ASUS Motherboard Troubleshooting via Q-LED Indicators.
Could you please provide the part number of the memory you currently have installed, if it is listed in the ROG STRIX B650-A GAMING WIFI QVL and installed in the slots recommended by the user manual?

We would recommend referring to [Motherboard] How to Query (CPU/Memory) QVL List? and the purchasing and installation guide to further cross-test with memory listed in the QVL to determine if the issue persists.

Thank you.

As the local holiday is ongoing, there may be further delays in responses.
We appreciate your patience in advance.

Yeah the reply regarding what the manual says is what should be wrong but it's not. Everything works perfectly fine but I've seen other instances and friends that have the same Mobo with the same exact issue. ANY time you have to reboot it will never post and it will stay on the Orange Q-LED. Games/apps will work extremely well and I never hard crash or blue screen even during heavy use.

This needs to be fixed.

I'm way more positive now that this is a firmware issue.

Thank you! It's the strangest thing. The employee clearly didn't notice the pictures showing it getting stuck on diff lights so I know it's not memory and they have been no help. Just trying to decide which MoBo to try cause this is ridiculous to have this issue and have to flashback or just get lucky that it will post randomly.

hey man, I recently built my first gaming PC and I have this exact problem. I have also checked everything from memory to GPU and also taken it to microcentre and they are lost for words as well. I'm considering just returning the MOBO and getting a new one. did you ever find a fix?

Nope, and unfortunately its getting worse it seems. I almost wonder if my Lian Li AIO has an issue because the screen is stuck on the logo and I am honestly just leaving my PC in sleep mode. Lately the only time to get it back working is a BIOS flashback or remove the CMOS battery. You would think its the BIOS file, but its happened with multiple BIOS updates. If you still can I would def exchange this motherboard. Luckily, Micro Center gave me this one for free but I am ordering something different. I might try NZXT, even though it's not in stores and have to order I see a decent amount of people with it online and I want to go back to their AIO anyway. But i would do the same thing early on and take it to Micro Center and they would just say nothing comes up on diagnosis.

its almost definitely not your AIO. the reason the screen stays on the logo is because in order for the info to popup the windows has to boot so the L connect software can feed info to the screen. given the fact that you already switched your RAM and still have this problem makes me believe this is a MOBO hardware or software issue. just a side note if I just shutdown my PC it turns on with no problem. the issue only presents itself when you hit restart in windows like after an update and in that case my only solution is to flash my bios or remove the battery. thank you for your reply and I agree going forward I'm only buying nzxt MOBOS

yooo I have a fix for you! use BIOS version 3014, and delete Armoury crate APP. ASUS customer support reached out and confirmed this issue. its not just our model either multiple other Asus MOBOs are in the same boat! hopefully this fixes your problem as well

This actually worked for me! Not at first however.

I had to also delete all of the other Asus apps. ASUS Motherboard, Live service, etc. I only kept the aura creater but I'll probably delete it too.

As an extra precaution I disabled MyAsus and Armoury Crate install and download in BIOS under advanced tab > TOOLS. Thank you for providing the info, Bardiamt. Saved me a lot of heartache after every windows update reboot.

Hopefully it helps everyone else as well!

This is 100% the fix. AuraEffect doesnt present this issue. Its crazy that they dont release a official statement addressing this issue and the fix. there is other bios versions that work as well but 3014 is the most stable and most recent one. In their Email they emphasized that they are actively working on this. my reply was stop telling people their systems is faulty or that you cant replicate the issue with your test device.they said end of august they will release a new bios update. my advice is unless you buy a ryzen 9000 series CPU dont even update your bios anymore.thats what im gonna do. i have a 7800X3D and imma keep this bios
