B650 e-e Port #0006 Hub #0004

Hi all

Seems I have the not so rare Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) problem but mine is Port #0006 Hub #0004. Anyone know which ports this is?
Tried all the various ideas on here on how to solve the problem, the only 2 devices I have are a keyboard and mouse.
Interestingly the keyboard stops working if I plug both into the front case usb 2 headers so I am wondering if it’s the hub on the motherboard that supples the front case connections has died, error still comes up with everything unplugged.
any help is grateful received 😁

Hello, @Cryfreman

Could you please provide a screenshot of the Unknown USB Device screen and specify if this issue occurred after any software or hardware changes, such as a BIOS update or hardware driver update? Was there any unusual power interruption or power restart before the issue, as you described?
Based on the scenario you described, we recommend you first try reinstalling the motherboard in the chassis, verifying the correct connection of the front USB, and clearing the CMOS.

Thank you.

Thanks for the reply.

I have pretty much exhausted all options, clearing CMOS, reinstalling motherboard, disconnecting all usb cables, including ones to the pc case IO, different keyboard and mouse, bios up to date, clean install off network and on to prevent update downloads. This started to happen while playing a game without any new driver/software installs.

Put a fresh install of windows 10 on to make sure it’s not Windows 11 causing problems.

Still no further into sorting this, even worse now as the company I have bought it from(UK company on the Asus dealer page)are refusing to replace the item as they tested it with aida64 and ran fine. Like that test would show this error ha 🤡

Serves me right after not using my normal OcUk/Ebuyer/Scan.

Hello, @Cryfreman

Based on your description, the keyboard stops working as soon as it's connected to the front panel, and there are no issues detected with the motherboard.
We would recommend cross-testing with another chassis to further eliminate the possibility of damaged chassis ports.

Thank you.

Hi.
I get the port errors on clean installs without anything plugged into the ports, including the chassis cables.
