hello @Jiaszzz_ROG

I checked your message and replied to it. I hope this problem is solved well. I can't use my computer properly. 😞

Hello @ggulgom
Thank you for your prompt response.
I've updated our DM conversation, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you.

I've got exact same issue with my motherboard. Where and how do I get this replaced/refunded? My brand new 4070 Super is just gathering dust now as it cannot be used..

DM with further instructions?

ASUS UK just suggested I contact the retailer that I bought it from, but it's well out of warranty and can pretty much guess what their reply would be!. Clearly ASUS UK want to wash their hands of it, so not much I can do really. Updated to latest BIOS, and the number of crashes has reduced, so no option really than to just live with it.

Has soured my opinion of Asus to the point that my likelihood of purchasing any more of their products has dwindled to nil.

So, my RMA procedure concluded and I received the new MB last monday, one week after shipping out the original one - this was faster than I expected. The exchange occurred at the Czech Asus support center, since I'm based in Italy.

I waited a couple of days to verify that the issue was indeed solved and so far I have had no suspicious crashes, so the newer B550-I revision that exists now seemingly does solve it.

Thanks also to @Jiaszzz_ROG for the help!

Hello @Jiaszzz_ROG, I would like to start the RMA process for my B550-I as well. How should I proceed?

Thank you

Me....I'm super mad at this situation and at Asus.

This was my 1st itx build that I was excited to build. I've been a pretty solid Asus fan/multiple Asus product purchaser starting back around 2009. It took me a while to purchase piece by piece, my build components. Once I was able to finally purchase my 4070 Super Founders Edition I was then able to complete my build. My excitement in my 1st itx build was then literally met with immediate confusion and headaches that caused me to question if I installed/seated my hardware and software correctly. I'm sure quite a few of y'all with the strix b550-i/40 series gpu went through similar steps....Rechecking hardware and connections to mb, possibly uninstalling hardware, inspecting hardware, reinstalling/mounting hardware, double checking software, drivers, bios, updating bios....The whole 9 yards....just to be experiencing the same outcome, Random Shutdowns, Failed Bootups.

Once I realized it couldn't be me is when I researched my issue and I was brought to this forum by means of reddit.

PS...This message is starting to sound like one I posted a couple of weeks ago. If it does, my apologies.

Since sharing my issue in a previous post to this forum I've received multiple responses and pm's. One thing that keeps coming up is...Did you set power settings to prefer maximum performance? My answer is Yes. And that only prolonged my random crashes to nearly an hour. And I still got the failed boot ups every other startup.

So that fix wasn't a fix for me. Then I've other's messaging me saying that a certain customer service agent responding to multiple users both in this thread and through private messaging isn't really an asus customer service rep. Call me confused regarding that.

I'm angry over this situation. My problems wouldn't have happened if Asus would have included in their product info for the strix b550-i that the 40 series gpu isn't compatible with this motherboard. Asus still hasn't acknowledged this "Openly/Publicly", and probably won't.  The matter of the fact is that obviously this motherboard/gpu combination is an issue. We know this, Asus knows this.

I however didn't know this until everything was said and done. I ended up having to sell my brand new Nvidia RTX 4070 Super Founders Edition at a discounted price because the return period expired and it was opened, installed and sort of used. Ended up having to take a chance by buying a used Nvidia rtx 3080 to fe. The pc is now running phenomenally without constant random restarts and failed boot ups. And I didn't have to set it to prefer maximum performance.

One thing I am guilty of is not researching motherboard + gpu thoroughly.

As a side note, I purchased my motherboard through fb marketplace from a gentleman that use to own an IT business. This motherboard was a leftover from his stock. It was brand new and unopened when I purchased it. So I really don't know if my product falls under or is eligible for RMA.

In my opinion, it should be. Especially since this motherboard has an engineering/design flaw.

I do take in a little comfort knowing that GamersNexus is putting in a lot of work for the little guys in making himself known to Asus.

One last note, I did say I've been a pretty solid Asus customer since 09'. I didn't mention the several return purchases I've had to make due to receiving w/o a doubt, previously opened Asus products with very visible defects. Asus was nice enough to refund me these purchases. That's all I have to say.

Same problem with me, my case is an NZXT H1V2, and I used an AMD RX6800XT (I never had any problems in a year and 3 months of use), I bought an MSI RTX 4070 ti Super Ventus 2X OC (Used), and my machine started to show black screen and restarts from time to time, I tested the GPU on another PC, with a Mortar MSI B550 motherboard, and it had no problems, I thought it could be my riser cable or power supply, both come with the case. I returned the GPU and bought an MSI VentUS RTX 4070 ti Super Ventus 3X OC (New), same problem after a few hours, black screen, I saw here in the posts to disable the Windows option that manages the PCI Express power, and today I worked for 6 hours, GPU at idle, and my machine crashed, making it necessary to force the shutdown button, almost giving up on the upgrade, seeing that the problem is the card and months without a solution.

Specifications:

Motherboard: Asus Rog Strix B550-I Gaming (BIOS 3607)
Processor: Ryzen 7 5700X
Memory: Corsair 32 GB DDR4 3200 XMP active
