I'm reposting this here from the ROG forum community post for better visibility

(Re: ASUS B550-I STRIX BIOS "2806" UPDATE to fix 4... - Republic of Gamers Forum - 898464)

Could someone please get back to the growing list of users with the issue described in the above thread?

Hi,

All I did in the BIOS was enable XMP. I'm not much of a tweaker!

I can try clearing the CMOS when I get to my PC again and report back.

The PC Screen turns off, but Music keeps Playing for another couple of seconds, so it's not a PSU overload. After that the System reboots. Yes my BIOS is up to date.

Exact same issue on my side with an Asus RTX 4070 Dual recently bought. Reboot or frozen screen after 10 minutes using the RTX 4070 on both Linux or Windows, no specific trigger, no need to use 3D rendering. RTX 4070 on another motherboard is stable, B550-i with my Asus TUF RTX 3080 as well. I am using the latest 3002 bios, have tried various other previous bios, same issue.

There are dozens of feedback on Reddit of peoples contacting Asus support for months without a clear recognition that there is a global incompatiblity between the B550-i motherboard and RTX 4000 graphic cards. I am linking the related threads in case somebody has still doubts about how broad this issue is:

 - https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/13xqz6s/asus_b550i_gaming_alternative_not_compatible_with/

Some people were said by the support it is an hardware issue not fixable specific to this model, some other were said a bios update is coming, but we are waiting for it for multiple months, some people who just bought the B550-i got a RMA in exchange for another motherboard.

Looks like related to power management.

Myself, I am still waiting a feedback from the support.

I think the ask from the community is the following:
 - We are asking ASUS to recognize the global incompatiblity between the popular, recent and premium B550-i motherboard and most RTX 4000 graphic cards (including ASUS ones)
 - We want to know if the problem is fixable via a bios update, and if it is, an approximate ETA (we are waiting for months)
 - If that's an hardward issue, provide a solution to RTX 4000 owners

As a fellow B550-I owner I've been closely following the Reddit threads and it is very disheartening to see the lack of response and even the acknowledgment of this problem.

Same issue here. Upgraded from a 3070 to a 4070 FE, same symptoms and random crashing, usually around idle.

First confirmation the bios team is looking into it (no ETA yet for a bios update) here.

Same issue here. Tried upgrading to a 4000 series card on the Asus ROG Strix b550i. Constant system freezes and reboots. Ended up buying a second hand 3060ti which works perfectly on the board.

PLEASE help us with a working bios update.

After more than 1 month of discussion with the support, various mentions of the Reddit threads showing this is a generalized issue, and after asking my invoice which is 2+ years old (so no RMA or warranty), I got a feedback that this is due to an hardware issue on my motherboard, which is IMO total bull****** and just a way to not acknoledge the generalized nature of the incompatibility between ASUS B550-I and RTX 4000 graphic cards. Shame on you ASUS. You won, I will buy an Asrock motherboard that works well with my RTX 4070 and never buy one of your products again.
