B550-F Compatible w/ Samgung Gen4 NVMeᵀᴹ SSD 2TB MZ-V9S2T0B/AM?

Currently have a KingSpec 2TB NX-2280 that works fine, but noticed after the latest Windows Update my benchmark scores in NovaBench5 went from an average of 300 to about 100.. Even did a fresh-install, had it back around 300, then that update came again and lowered it.

I haven't seen any performance loss but just odd.. I was hoping to get a Samsung SSD NVMe/m2 drive anyway since I've always had luck and trust their products.

Will the 990 EVO Plus Gen4 NVMeᵀᴹ SSD 2TB MZ-V9S2T0B/AM?

I didn't see it on the QVL list, but never saw the KingSpec on it either.. same with a few other SSDs I've used on ASUS B350/B550s I've owned that worked fine.

I can always order something else.. Was just hoping to toss the Samsung into the upper/faster slot and still use the KingSpec 2TB in the lower slot for storage.. thanks!

Hello @johnryanburnham

Thank you for reaching out to us.
Regarding benchmarking, we are unable to confirm the specifics of third-party software tests or the hardware detection methods used. If it does not affect usage, we recommend continuing to monitor the situation.
As for the QVL, the devices listed have been verified to provide the best stability and compatibility when installed with the motherboard. However, you are certainly able to choose any hardware that meets the motherboard's specifications by referring to the ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) Tech Specs.
Additionally, if you wish to receive further attention or engage in discussions, please let me know if you would like to move this thread to the 'Hardware & Build Advice' section.

Thank you.

I rolled back to Windows 11 23H2 and will try to ignore the 24H2 update as long as possible.

I did swap the KingSpec NX2280 to the 2nd M2 slot (lower/slower) and it's speeds are 100% again. I plan on putting the Samsung into Slot 1 (upper/faster).

Currently these are the speeds of my SSDs starting with the KingSpec NVMe/M2 2TB, then 2 of my 2.5" Samsung EVO 960s. From what I've researched these speeds are perfectly fine and where they should be.

The new Samsung 990 Plus 2TB arrives either later tonight or tomorrow and I plan to toss it in that upper M2 slot and will use DiskGenius to clone the KingSpec to the new Samsung drive. I've used DG before and it's absolutely amazing in regards to "migrating" your boot disk, took about 25min to clone one of my old 2.5" Samsung EVO 960 SSDs to the KingSpec a few weeks back and worked 100%.

I did have to reinstall my benchmark software, more importantly my graphics card's drivers and a few other programs.. But in regards to gaming and anything else worked 100%. Up until that last Windows Update the KingSpec was working great, fastest drive I've ever owned.. so pretty excited for the Samsung 990 Plus to arrive and I will update if and how well it works!

Arrived and installed today and works great!

Used DiskGenius as mentioned and cloned my KingSpec 2TB (boot disk) to the new Samsung EVO 990 Plus 2TB and switched/migrated the new drive as my Boot Disk.

Reinstalled my GPU drivers and a few programs, benchmark scores from Novabench went up and the Samsung Magician program had it Benchmarked and was 100%.

Just always had confidence in Samsung EVO line of SSDs and glad I grabbed this one, wish I would have gotten it originally vs the KingSpec but that's okay plenty of storage!
