Asus z890 Extreme: Problem with the ROG Q-Dimm.2 Card

Hello!

I have a problem with my nvme ssd's when they are installed in the ROG Q-Dimm.2 card. In Windows I have a huge spam of WHEA errors on the specific PCIe device that is responsible for the nvme SSD's.

I have already tried changing the nvme SSD with no success. If I put the nvme in a slot directly on the board, then the errors are gone.

Hello @Owambo

Thank you for reaching out to us.
Could you please let us know the brand and model of your installed SSD, is it updated to the latest firmware or driver, and what the current version is?
What BIOS version are you currently using, and does setting the relevant slot to PCIe Gen 4 in the BIOS improve the issue?
If the issue persists, please share a screenshot of the BIOS main page, along with the PSU and RAM model and part number.
Additionally, following the steps below to generate two txt files in your Windows system will help us further review your setup:
1.Press the WIN+R keys on the keyboard to open the command window
2.Key in: dxdiag → OK
3.Click [Save All Information]
4.Select the save location and click [Save]
Same steps, replace the command line in step 2 with: msinfo32
5.Key in: msinfo32 → OK → and save the txt file.

Thank you.

Hi @Jiaszzz_ROG,

I used a Samsung 980 Pro 1TB with the latest firmware. I also tried a Corsair MP700 Pro SE and MP600 Pro NH unfortunatelly with the same result.

Further I tried different BIOS version:

0503, 0806 and the current beta bios 0091 - without success.

When I put the DIMM.2 PCIe speed to 3.0, I didn't get any errors anymore.

how can I send you the debug files?

Hello @Owambo

Please upload the files to a cloud storage service, set the permissions to allow access, and share the link with me.
Could you also confirm if the issue occurs when both Q-DIMM slots are occupied or if it happens with just a single slot in use?

Kindly help by providing details on the Q-DIMM configuration, the SSD firmware version, and screenshots of any WHEA errors to assist us in identifying the issue more precisely.
For specification verification, please also share an image of the BIOS main page, along with the PSU and RMA model and part numbers.

Thank you.

Hey @Jiaszzz_ROG

the issue occurs when I have one or two NVMe's installed.
The SSD Firmware Version is 5B2QGXA7 for both 980 Pro. Corsair Firmware is EQFM22.3 (MP700 PRO SE)

Screenshots and the other requested resources can you find here:

Partnumber is: 90MB1IA0-M0EAY0

PS: In Linux occurs the error, too.

Hello @Owambo

After consulting with our engineers, we would like to confirm if disabling the "PCI Express Native Power Management" setting in BIOS under Advanced Mode > Platform Misc Configuration while the SSD is installed in DIMM.2 would improve the situation.

Thank you.
