Hi,

I bought and installed the Asus ROG STRIX Z790-F WIFI II motherboard. Now I want to update the BIOS but I just cant get it to work. It keeps saying: EzFlash - Selected file is not a proper BIOS!

The currect BIOS-version is 0404 x64 (09/28/2023) and I tried several versions from the website: https://rog.asus.com/nl/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z790-f-gaming-wifi-model/helpdesk_bios/

Anyone the golder answer to this problem?
Thx a lot!

You downloaded the update from the wrong website.

Your link goes to the ROG STRIX Z790-F GAMING WIFI (BETA Update 2503)

But you say you have a ROG STRIX Z790-F GAMING WIFI II (BETA Update 1503)

That's why you get this message saying it's an incorrect BIOS update.

So please download update 1503 for ROG STRIX Z790-F GAMING WIFI II, then it will work.

If the update is done via UEFI/Ez Flash, renaming using the renamer is not necessary. You only need the renamer if you update it using the flash button on the back of the motherboard.

Did you use the BiosRenamer.exe and rename the
ROG*.CAP and renamed it?

"Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (Sxxxxx.CAP) using BIOSRenamer."
