Asus z790-e no boot/post

Parts: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xQLsdH

Motherboard: Asus z790-e

Description: Initially connected all components and the system booted to the BIOS successfully. Rebooted multiple times and enabled rapid intel storage technology on the BIOS. Rebooted again and only the motherboard and the ram lights came on. GPU and other components are not turned on when the system is turned on. The Q LED which displays Q-Codes on the Asus motherboard nor any lights for debugging light up either. I'm completely lost on next steps.

Attempts to fix:

  • Reconnected every cable

  • Reseated ram, CPU, GPU, SSD, and cooler

  • Cleared CMOS

  • USB BIOS Flashback

  • Isolated components (Setup only CPU, 1 stick of ram, and cooler)

I'm thinking that it might be the PSU. If you don't have another one, you can buy plug-in testers quite cheaply. Might be worth a try, otherwise I can't think of anything else based on what you've tried. I would have done exactly the same. It could also be a faulty cable?

Z690 Hero, 12900K, BIOS 3701, MEI 2407.6.1.0, ME Firmware 16.1.32.2473, 7000X Case, RM1000x PSU, ASUS TUF OC 3090TI, 2 x 16GB Corsair RAM @ 5200MHz, Windows 11 Pro 23H2, Corsair H150i Elite AIO, 4x Corsair RGB fans, 3x M.2 NVME drives, 2x SATA SSDs, 2x SATA HDs.

Got a PSU tester and the PSU was faulty. Got another PSU and it worked perfectly.

Nice one, glad you got it sorted

Same problem with Asus prime b650m-a wifi II. I doubt it's the power supply's fault. Please write a reply if you find a solution.

Going to get a PSU tester to test it out. Probably not the cause, but worth the shot. If not, I'll be trying another mobo.

I solved it by downgrading the bios via Flashback

Thanks for the response. I had hope. Did flashback with multiple versions and still no go. Getting a new mobo today and will be returning this one. Hopefully it's just a faulty mobo.
