ASUS Z790-A Prime Wifi Cannot boot on newer bios versions

Berdugo

Hello,

Here is my setup :

ASUS PRIME Z790-A WIFI  - i7 13700KF (stock) - 2 x 32 GB of Corsair DDR5 stable @ 6000 mhz CL30

The most recent stable bios version is v. 1220 (18th of August 2023). On every newer version than this one, aka on versions 1402, 1601, 1603 and 1604, my PC can boot into windows on optimized default settings only, but not on my custom bios profile. Yet that profile was perfectly stable on version 1220. There's an endless bootloop I can only escape from by clearing CMOS. So I ended up returning to version 1220. I wanted to upgrade to the newest bios version because it has the patch for the LogoFAIL vulnerability.
Here is my custom profile :

XMP II
6000 mhz @ 30 36 36 76 @ 1.40v (VDD and VDDQ)

LLC 3

VRM Core voltage offset : -0.05v

CPU System Agent voltage : 1.26v

Memory Controller voltage : 1.4v

Thanks for your help

Marc

Hello, @Berdugo

When the system fails to boot, are there any Q-LED indicator lights on?
Regarding memory overclocking, could you please confirm if, in the latest BIOS version 1604, the system can successfully boot and enter the OS when only [XMP I] is enabled after clearing the CMOS? [XMP I] is the memory timing and parameters optimized by ASUS.

Additionally, could you provide the following information to help us better understand your hardware specifications and situation?
- images of BIOS main page and all BIOS settings
- the brand, model name, and part number of the DRAM currently installed
- the brand and model name of the GPU, SSD/HDD, and PSU currently installed
- the OS version and OS build

Thank you.

Hello,

Going from XMP II to XMP I worked out, thank you for your response ! I can't believe I did not think of trying this. I'm sorry if I made you lose time. I hope it can help people who have the same issue as myself.
