I have a ryzen 8700g on an asus x670e-e
I have two rtx 3090, both tested.
I am unable to detect any gpu in the pcie16_2 slot
I have tried running different OS, and only putting one card in this slot and am unable to detect it.
I returned the motherboard to amazon and got a new one and the same issue exists with the new board.
In the Asus bios, in onboard device configuration, there is no option for PCIE16_2.
There are only options for PCIE16_1 and PCIE16_3
I have lost hope, can anyone help me?
Troubleshooting tried:
Testing GPU on different PC, all GPU work.
Testing motherboard with no other PCIE devices except PCIEX16_2, fail.
Testing motherboard with no NVME drives or other PCIE devices except PCIEX16_2, fail.
Returning motherboard and buying new identical board, still no PCIEX16_2 in bios and no card detected with new board (Am I unlucky enough to buy 2 boards with same issue?)
Updating bios to latest, no PCIEX16_2 in bios
Disabling integrated 8700g graphics, still no PCIEX16_2
Running LINUX and checking lspci (still not detecting gpu in lane PCIEX16_2
LINUX commands show only GPU when in PCIEX16_1 lspci -nn | grep '\[03' and lspci | grep -i vga
HWiNFO64: SMBIOS DMI - System Slots - PCIEX16_2 - Slot Usage: Unknown ?????? PCIEX16_1 shows filled with RTX 3090 and PCIEX16_3 shows empty. At least HWiNFO64 detects the existence of a PCIEX16_2 slot
I cannot find the bus specifications to work out which bus is linked to PCIE16_2. From my research it looks like it is bus 19. Bus 19 shows up as :

Hello gtek_Dev
According to the manual, the pcie 5.0 slots run at x16 with one gpu, or x8/x4 with two gpu's.
Nvidia gpu's need x8 lanes to function, this is likely why the second RTX 3090 is not being detected.

Hi @gtek_Dev , your board does not support multi GPU support on it's Technical Specification page. See below.
Also as Nate152 mentioned above, in your board's manual on page XII at https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/Socket%20AM5/ROG_STRIX_X670E-E_GAMING_WIFI/E21210_ROG_STRIX_X6... you can see that PCIEX16_2 has no configuration to get X8 lanes
If multi GPU support is really important for you, please find a board that officially mentions it.

Hello, @achugh
If the motherboard specification screenshot you provided indicates that the motherboard does not support multiple GPUs, this information is incorrect.
The "Graphics" section of the motherboard specifications indicates that when a CPU with integrated graphics is installed, the ports can be used for video output.
Thank you.

Hi @Jiaszzz_ROG , thank you for double checking my message. My understanding from the OP is that the person is trying to use TWO RTX 3090 cards. I am quoting the original message here for reference.
I have two rtx 3090, both tested.
I am unable to detect any gpu in the pcie16_2 slot
I did not read it as iGPU and an external GFX card like the way you read the message. Maybe, I am not understanding the problem and OP can correct me.
In the meantime, for 2 PCIe GFX cards, do you see any mistake or incorrect information in my message above? I am happy to EDIT it for others to search for the right solution if they face similar issue.
Looking forward to your response.
