Hello, so I recently replaced my old Biostar A320MH motherboard with an ASUS TUF B550-M Plus. After installing my Ryzen 5 5600, I entered the BIOS (version 3607) and immediately noticed something was wrong because the temperature was showing 60°C. I then booted into Windows and opened HWMonitor to check the temperature, and it confirmed that something was off, as it was fluctuating between 50°C and 70°C without doing anything. I tried several things:
None of these solutions helped, and the temperatures remained the same. So, I decided to install my old processor, the Ryzen 3 3200G, to see how it would behave. Upon entering the BIOS, the temperature was immediately 41°C, and in Windows, it averaged around 48°C, reaching 57°C while gaming, which is normal. This made me wonder, could this be a BIOS issue? I don’t think there should be such a big temperature difference between two processors, especially considering that one shows 60°C in the BIOS and the other shows 41°C.

Hello @erikaum
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Could you kindly confirm if you have cleared the CMOS after updating the TUF GAMING B550M-PLUS to the latest BIOS version 3611? Additionally, are there any settings in the BIOS that increase CPU power consumption, such as enabling PBO?
Apart from the BIOS update, have the chipset drivers and other drivers provided on the official website been correctly updated as well?
When observing higher-than-expected idle CPU temperatures (50–70°C), have you also checked the internal temperature of the chassis and the operation of the fans? For instance, is the airflow configuration balanced for both intake and exhaust, and are the fan speeds properly aligned with the settings?
Based on your description, aside from ensuring the CPU is properly seated and the internal fan setup is adequate, we recommend cross-testing with a different CPU cooler or reapplying thermal paste to further investigate and resolve the issue.
Thank you.
