Asus Strix z790-F gaming wifi not powering ON

At the end of 2022/start of 2023 we upgraded our machines here to this Motherboard. We work mainly producing 3D content for marketing/advertising.

The platform has been rock solid for 2 years, no hiccups, no issues at all. Even the intel debacle of the 13th gen never affected us. We never saw a BSDO.

Yesterday, my PC refused to power on when I pressed the power button on the case. I pressed several times, held it for 10 seconds, nothing. Opened the case, pressed the power button that sits directly on the Mobo. Nothing.

The LEDs that show the ROG logo on the VRMs are always on, indicating "some" power is being delivered. But taking the PC out of the power outlet, waiting for those light to turn OFF, plugging it again, wait for them to light up and pressing the power does nothing. No Fan spin, no Ram memory lights on.

I replaced the PSU (a Corsair HX 850) with another (EVGA Supernova GP2 850), replaced ALL power cables from corsair to EVGA's cables, again, the idle LED of the modo lights up, but pressing the power button does nothing.

I removed all RAM modules, tried to turn it on, nothing. I removed the GPU, nothing, I even removed the CPU, leaving the Mobo only with chassis fans connected, and nothing. I cleared the CMOs, nothing. No beeps (I have a beeper on it), no fan spin, nothing.

All that remains is the light on the ROG logo, and nothing else.

I REALLY liked this motherboard. I have an Asus Prime with the first generation Threaripper that works perfectly to this very day. I really thought the ROG/Strix brand would perform just as good.

Additional info that might be worth:

1. The PC was never overclocked.

2. The PC was never used for gaming, and never stressed. Rendering was sparse as the final rendering are done on the farm.

3. Temps were always in check, and since it was rarely put to flex it's muscles it operated silently as a whisper. Cooling was done by Noctua fans on the case and a gigantic Noctua CPU heating and cooler.

Any help, please? I cannot afford to have this machine in downtime, as I need it to work.

I'd like to add that I managed to update the Bios of the mobo to the latest version available on Asus website and also replaced the CMOS battery with a new one. The problem disappeared for about 4 days and today it crept back.

Any help, please?

Hello @davius

Thank you for reaching out to us, and sorry for any inconvenience caused by the delayed response.
Could you please check if any Q-LED indicators light up when the system fails to boot? Does the BIOS Flashback LED on the rear I/O panel blink during this time?
We recommend referring to the guidelines in [Motherboard] Troubleshooting - No Power/No Boot/No Display and performing a minimal hardware test. This involves removing the system from the case and testing with only the CPU (using integrated graphics if supported), RAM, and PSU to check if the issue persists.
Meanwhile, I have also DM you, kindly check your inbox at your convenience.

Thank you.

Hey Jiaszzz_ROG, thanks for reaching out!

The PC simply shows no sign of life other than the led showing the ROG logo over the VRMs, near the backpanel.

I press the power button in either on the chassis or on the board itself and it simply does nothing. The Q-Led does not light up at all.

I did the minimum setup as well - removed the GPU, the RAM, even the CPU, nothing. Swapped the PSU with another one I have here, also nothing. I've recorded all the steps and I'll send to you via DM.

Best regards
