ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI Bios blinking while loading

Demiar

Hello everyone!

I have a strange problem. Let me start with a little background. After a successful build, I decided to update the BIOS. At first I did it incorrectly (I thought I could update directly from the SSD) and my computer just bricked. I had to just turn off the power to try again. Then, I started reinstalling the BIOS correctly, from a USB flash drive, and the computer started up, the OS loaded. I have been using it for a long time, everything is fine. But the following still occurs (in the video), which confuses me a lot. Reinstalling the BIOS does not help. I will be glad to any advice.

With further restarts everything is fine. This only appears on the first launch after an hour or more.

I don’t know if this is related or not, but restarting (via OS or from the button) also doesn’t work, only completely turning it off and on again.

Hello @Demiar

Thank you for your response.
Could you please clarify whether the flickering logo issue occurs when using the iGPU or dGPU and whether it happens via HDMI or DP output? Please also share the model of the connected monitor(s) and let us know if you are using multiple monitors simultaneously.
When connecting a single monitor:
1) If using iGPU, does cross-testing the motherboard’s rear panel ports produce any difference?

2) If using a GPU, which PCIe slot is it installed in on the motherboard, and does cross-testing in another slot show any variation?

3) Regardless of whether integrated or dedicated graphics are in use, does cross-testing with different HDMI or DP cables yield different results?

To assist us in further investigation, we kindly ask that you provide the relevant details using the following template:
- the current BIOS version and the images of manually adjusting items in BIOS, or whether it is the default
- the brand, model and installation slots or ports of the CPU, GPU, RAM (part number well), SSD/HDD, and PSU
- are there any extensions or adapters used to connect any devices, such as GPU or SSD?
- the OS version and OS build
- the circumstances and frequency of the problem

Thank you.

Due to the local holidays, my responses may be slightly delayed.
For any urgent cases, we recommend reaching out to your local service center for further assistance. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Thank you very much!
I have conducted many experiments related to this, following your advice. This problem occurs when the monitor is cold booted. On another monitor, cold booting occurs without such an effect. So the problem does not relate to the motherboard. Sorry for the wasted time and thanks for the help!

Hello @Demiar

Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing the video record.
Could you please clarify if this issue occurred after the PC was first built or after using it for some time and occurred following any recent changes, such as a BIOS update or component replacement?
Based on your description, the flashing ROG logo during the POST process occurs only on cold boots or the first startup after not using the computer, and it does not happen during a reboot.
Does this issue persist after clearing the CMOS and with all BIOS settings set to default, including disabling any EXPO or power configurations?
We also recommend consulting the ROG STRIX X670E-E GAMING WIFI user manual to ensure all hardware connections are correct, including checking that the CPU pins are not bent, and that there are no issues with either over-tightening or over-loosening the installation, as well as ensuring proper power cable connections.
If needed, try a minimal configuration: booting with only the CPU, RAM, and PSU installed, and check if the issue still occurs.
Additionally, given that you mentioned encountering a problem with not being able to pass through system reboots, please test under the above conditions to see if there are any differences.

Thank you.

Hello @Jiaszzz_ROG

Thank you for the answer.

As I said, I only tried to update the BIOS right after assembling and passing all the tests of my hardware. I can guarantee that everything is connected correctly, we double-checked it several times.

I tried to clear СMOS and reset BIOS settings and this solved the problem with restarts, now the system reboots correctly, thank you. But the blinking still remains during a cold start.

As additional information, I can say that the only thing I need to change in the BIOS settings is to turn off the CPU fan monitor, since I have water cooling (i need only pump monitor), otherwise the computer does not let anything past that information window.
