Hello!
I have an ASUS Rog Strix Thor 850w Platinum PSU (fully modular) and an older ASUS motherboard.
However, I´ve just bought a new z790 plus motherboard. The power connectors on the mobo are 2x12v, and my older motherboard has the 1x12v socket and the other one with 4 pins.
Would I need to order another cable to fully power my new CPU? I can´t find an extra CPU cable on my PSU package and don´t want to start stripping down my older PC unless I have all the components at hand.
Cheers.

Hello, @lbera
May I inquire about the specific model of your new motherboard?
Is it the TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS D4, TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI, or TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI D4 model?
Taking the TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI as an example, we recommend referring to page 1-10 of the user manual for instructions and properly installing the three power connectors labeled as A, B, and C.
Thank you.

The two connections above the CPU are essential.
It is the PD_12V-PWR which is not mandatory, because it is used to add up to 60W for PCIe and faster charging for USB ports. Without this the motherboard remains at 27W for PICe.
