I have the Asus ROG maximus Z890 motherboard, on it it has 2 USB Front Panel connector:
* USB 20GB Front Panel
* USB 10GB Front Panel.
The USB 10GB Front Panel is working fine for me.
But USB 20GB Front Panel is not working fine. The symptom is when you plug a device it briefly connect then disconnect.
Does anybody knows if the connector/cable are different ? or there is any setup in the bios or windows (I am running Windows11. I was using the same cable as for the USB 10GB Front Panel connector.
Thanks.

I have z890 strix E and this board has only one 20G USB 3.2 gen2x2 internal plus 5Gb plugg.
I have the same problem as you. My Samsung T9 disconnects within few seconds. It works fine with high speeds when connected into one of the thunderbolt ports, though.
It could be driver issue on this board or bios issue that needs to be fixed?

The motherboard I have is: ROG MAXIMUS Z890 HERO.
I had already upgraded to the latest bios 1401 and the latest drivers, windows and asus driverhub says I am up to date.
But I had tried even a small usb thumb drive and it had the similar problem. I will check all the power settings and let you know if it is better.

Hello @goran69
Thank you for joining the discussion.
Could you please clarify if this issue occurred after the PC was first built or after using it for some time and occurred following any recent changes, such as a BIOS update or component replacement? Have you tested the front panel USB 20Gbps Type-C port with other devices to see if the same issue occurs?
We recommend updating the BIOS and checking again. If your BIOS is already updated to version 1401, please try clearing CMOS and ensure that there are no potential power management restrictions within the system.
Thank you.

Hello,
The problem is only with Samsung T9 on this port. It is the only device I own that can utilize USB3.2 Gen 2x2 protocol. All other devices I have works fine on this port but they use USB 3.0 or 3.1 gen 1 or 2 only.
The problem has been there from day one. All drivers/OS is updated and there is no change with Bios update. I tried all from 806, 1101, 1201, 1302 and 1401. Samsung T9 firmware is latest.
