Hi everyone

I built a PC and at first boot I got Q code 55 (RAM not recognized) and I solved it by loosening CPU cooler screws.

now when I install a single RAM stick in Slot B2 it POSTs and boots fine but when I add the other stick to slot A2 it shows error code 98 and it does not boot (black screen on monitor with constant HDMI signal comes and goes).

I'll be grateful of you help me to solve this problem.

thank you

Hello @sajjadcj

Thank you for reaching out to us.
According to the ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO user manual, Q-Code 98 indicates "Console input devices connect" and could potentially be caused by abnormal hardware connections or improper installation.
In addition to checking the memory modules, we recommend verifying whether other connected hardware components are installed correctly and functioning as expected.
Regarding the RAM installation, could you please provide the part number of your current memory modules, and are all four memory modules from the same kit? If you install a single memory module in the DIMM_A2 slot, are you able to boot successfully into the BIOS?

We recommend using memory modules from the same kit and, if possible, cross-testing with modules listed in the ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO memory QVL.
For further details, please refer to [Motherboard] How to query (CPU/memory) QVL List? as well as the "Purchasing and Installation Guide" found on the memory QVL page.

Thank you.

Due to the local holidays, my responses may be slightly delayed.
For any urgent cases, we recommend reaching out to your local service center for further assistance. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Thanks for reply.

I fixed the problem by enabling CSM in bios and switching from HDMI to DisplayPort. I don't know which one of them worked but it is fine now.
