Hi! I'm owner of Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Extreme motherboard, paired with Ryzen 9 5950X CPU. And i found 2 issues with this motherboard. First issue is minor, but second is kinda big. Both of them are BIOS related.
First, there is missing text in motherboard BIOS. Every setting in bios have some kind of description, shown at the bottom of screen. Except "Gear Down mode" setting which just shows "no additional text" or something like that.
Second issue is memory compatibility. I borrowed 2 memory sticks from my friend - F4-4400C19D-16GTZSW. They are on QVL list of motherboard. What's the problem with them? My system could not boot with them, when i set memory frequency on higher value than 3600MT/s. I was simply getting F9 error over and over. Regardless of the settings I chose, the computer did not want to start at all. And it's not CPU related problem, because now i have F4-4400C19D-64GTRS memory kit, and it run at 3800MT/s FCLK 1:1 without any problem at all. I tried to swap CPU for 5800X3D - but result was exactly the same. Also, my 5950X CPU with same F4-4400C19D-16GTZSW memory but on a different motherboard - Gigabyte - runs with them at 3866MT/s without any problem. So i'm like 99% sure that is just BIOS related issue.
In my opinion, such mistakes are unacceptable in a motherboard for this kind of money, so I would like them to be fixed in future BIOS update. Is there a way to report it to ASUS directly, or this forum post is enough?

Hello @Fujibayashi
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Could you please clarify which BIOS version the issue you described occurs on? Does the problem persist across multiple versions, or is it specific to one?
If you haven’t already updated to the latest BIOS version 1602, we recommend updating it and clearing CMOS before checking again.
Regarding the first issue with missing text in the BIOS, could you share photos or videos to help us better understand the situation?
For the second issue, where the system fails to boot with the F4-4400C19D-16GTZSW memory installed and displays Q-code F9, according to the user manual, F9 indicates “Recovery capsule is not found.”
Could you confirm if the memory modules are installed in the DIMM_A2 and DIMM_B2 slots? Does clearing CMOS make any difference?
Thank you.

I was using newest bios version, that is 1602, and before changing memory modules i did clear CMOS. And yes, memory modules were installed in A2/B2 slots. I also tried to run only 1 stick, in A2 slot, but result was the same - F9 error, sometimes i was getting stuck on 0d error.
Edit.
I forgot to mention about another issue with this motherboard. Actual voltages do not coincide with those that are set - as shown on screenshot from UEFI below. Actual voltages are much lower that values that are set in bios. For example, on PLL instead of 1.8V i'm getting 1.76V, on RAM instead of 1.5V i'm getting 1.48V etc etc. I tried to check it in some programs like HWiNFO, and it confirmed that actual voltages are indeed lower than set voltages.
Edit 2
I added screenshot showing missing caption.

Hello @Fujibayashi
ASUS has verified the motherboard for optimal stability and compatibility when used with devices listed in the Memory QVL.
Upon reviewing the RAM QVL for the ROG CROSSHAIR VIII EXTREME, the following results apply for Ryzen 5000-Series CPUs, G.SKILL RAM, and memory speeds up to 4400MHz:
The memory modules you have tested, F4-4400C19D-16GTZSW and F4-4400C19D-64GTRS, do not appear in the list.
Given this, we recommend that you confirm whether the system can boot correctly when installed in the recommended slots after clearing CMOS and ensuring no manual BIOS adjustments (including CPU voltage settings, memory clock speeds, or EXPO configurations).
If the issue persists, we suggest cross-testing with memory modules from the QVL to verify further.
Additionally, could you please confirm whether the "No help string" message appears only in the "Gear Down Mode" setting under BIOS version 1602 or if this issue extends to all BIOS settings?
Please help clarify whether the problem persists across multiple versions or if it is specific to 1602.
Thank you.

But the F4-4400C19D-16GTZSW memory kit is visible on the screenshot you attached. It is first on that list 🙂 .
"No help string" message appears not only for Gear Down Mode, but also on three other settings - RttNom, RttWr and RttPark. Other settings have proper help strings. I haven't checked if it occurs on older BIOS versions, I can only tell that this problem exists on newest 1602 version.
