ASUS motherboard is auto-updating BIOS - how can I disable this ?

Hi all, hope this is in the right place 🙂

I have an ASUS TUF X299 MARK1 that's more than a couple of years old, using it with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Every once in a while, the BIOS does an auto-update, I would like it to not do this.

I cant find anything about an auto-update feature in the BIOS itself - including the advanced area - nor in the manual. Windows updates are turned off (services applet) and there are no ASUS apps running, nor installed (Ctrl Panel), and there is nothing showing in msconfig.

I was told on another forum that this is the O/S doing this... is that possible? Computer power is off, you turn it on, and the bios starts to update before the Windows screen appears. That can be the OS?

Anyone have an idea on how to disable this? Thanks in advance.

Oh, I see. Ok, thanks for that.

So, the vers is 1503

Meaning it is probably the original version the MB shipped with?

So, when I see the "BIOS is updating message" - like int eh image I posted above - what is going on here? If I am still on 1503. it would appear as the BIOS has not updated -  the message I am seeing... what does it represent?

Thank you again for the time.

Hello, @jhayat .

May I ask if you have encountered the situation shown in the images you provided again?
If so, please capture a complete video of the screen when the issue occurs and let it restart automatically. Once it's done, check the BIOS version.
If not, please continue to use and observe it.

Thank you.

Due to the ongoing regional holidays, my responses may be slightly delayed.
Thank you in advance for your patience.‌‌‌‌ 🙂

I encounter the situation from time to time.

As stated, I can not capture a video - I would have to know it was going to  happen in advance, so that I can have a video camera set up. I do not know when it is going to happen.

Hello, @jhayat

Since BIOS updates generally do not occur automatically, it might be quite difficult to verify further assistance based on the information you've provided so far.
Therefore, we kindly request your assistance in providing a video, the BIOS version before and after the appearance of the image, and any timing related to hardware or software changes.
Additionally, if you encounter any abnormal behavior, such as blue screens, please provide the detailed scenario as well.

Thank you.
