Asus B760 -I / Bios 1663

Aeon1
Level 7

I am using the Ben ASUS B760 motherboard with an i7 14700K processor. Asus released a new microcode update with code 1663 for this motherboard yesterday. However, the release notes mention that the update includes fixes for non-K processors. I am unsure about this. Is there anyone with a similar configuration who has applied this update?

Same question, would like to know that too. How do K processors behave with this BIOS? Any additional settings requried?

for me was worse the temps are higher again...i cant believe, im going back to the 1661 im using  the tuf z790 with i7 13700k,  this has been a scandal, that's the right word, i think with the extended warranty im getting this back to the store, i never been so disappointed after a week tweaking the bios like im a pro coder or something, disgraceful this new wave of workers in these enterprises

"I updated and I have the motherboard and processor mentioned above (Asus ROG B760-i Gaming Wifi, i7 14700k, 32GB DDR5 RAM). In general, the instability in temperatures continues. I can only say that stability in stress tests has slightly increased. However, this slight increase has caused the processor, which normally runs stable at 5.45 GHz during the stress test, to fluctuate between 5.05 and 5.35 GHz after the 1663 BIOS update. I observed that it occasionally dropped to 4.97 GHz. I try to keep the tests as short as possible. Currently, I don't have the option to send back and replace my processor as I only have this one. However, as a company, my trust in Intel is completely gone. No customer should have to research BIOS updates or become a hardware expert. It is completely amateurish for the company to put millions of people in this situation without conducting proper checks. I am also dissatisfied with the management of this process. If I wanted to change my processor today, I would have to replace both the motherboard and the processor. If I continue with Intel, I am experiencing the same problem with the previous generation. If I send it back and use a new product, I won't be able to manage my current work during this process. One clear problem I experienced after the latest update was that on the first day, in a single match in CSGO 2, the game closed without any errors 4 times in total, 2 times in one match. My temperatures are not normal, and I am not satisfied. While the i5 14600 processor can handle this game with fewer cores, providing stability and lower temperatures, it makes no sense that the i7 14700k tries to use 20 cores in the same game and consistently draws between 155-180 W of power. So much so that my previous system with an i7 10700 processor with a 65W TDP could provide the same stability with fewer cores. Thanks a lot, Intel, on behalf of millions of people. When you release new processors, you owe your loyal customers a new motherboard and processor

Hello all
For guidance on updating the BIOS with Intel 13th/14th gen CPUs, we recommend referring to the [Motherboard] Intel 13th and 14th Gen K-Series processor stability improvement with Latest ASUS BIOS... and the related discussion thread.
If you encounter any issues after updating the BIOS, please provide detailed hardware specifications, BIOS settings, and context to help us understand the scenario.

Thank you.

Hello @guitargamery_

May I ask if your motherboard is the TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI D4 or TUF GAMING Z790-PRO WIFI?
Besides the temperature increase, have you experienced any other issues with BIOS version 1661, such as BSODs or auto shutdown?
If possible, kindly share with the following, or consider contacting the retailer for after-sales support:
- the current BIOS version, and whether you encounter issues when using the default BIOS settings after clearing CMOS and without manually settings such as enabling XMP or other overclocking settings
- how was the CPU temperature increase confirmed?
Please provide screenshots of the results from the BIOS and OS
- the brand and model name of the GPU, RAM (part number and installed slots as well), SSD/HDD, and PSU currently installed
- the OS version and OS build
- the circumstances, frequency, and detailed scenario of the problem

Thank you.

Hi there,

cpu: intel i-5 13500
mobo: asus rog strix b760-i gaming wifi
psu: coolermaster v850 sfx
i recently updated bios to 1663 and was able to flash it successfully but after a few days of use  it started to restart every 30 -40 mins of use.once it restarts it can only be use for a minute or so and continues to restart. I shut it down and checked if any parts was overheating when i touched the VRM heatsink  covering the backpanel, it was hot as hell, I let it cool down and tried to change the heatpads on the vrm using the spare provided for the m.2 nvme as i thought possible reason is that heat isn't being transferred efficiently causing to heat up like that. After replacing the heatpads, it no longer turns on, no display, only the ram rgb lights up, the case and cpu fans are not turning on as well. long press on the power button turns off the ram rgb. I tried swapping psu as well, shows same results.

"Hello Everyone,

My system information is as follows:
Product Model: ROG STRIX B760-I GAMING WIFI
Asus ProArt - NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti
Intel i7 14700K
Corsair Vengeance, 16GB*2 DDR5 6000 MHz
Samsung SSD 990 PRO 2TB

I would like to share the conversation I had with Asus technical support regarding this issue.

QUESTION
Subject: New BIOS Update
In the note for the BIOS version 1663 that was released for my Asus Rog B760-i motherboard, it mentions "non-K" processors. Based on this update note, should I not update because I'm using the i7 14700K? Will there be any benefits if I do? Other motherboard manufacturers didn't make such a distinction.

Dear Mr. Ebubekir,

Thank you for contacting Asus,

This BIOS version was released for processors that are not part of the "K" series. A BIOS version for your processor will be released as soon as possible.

If you wish, you can contact Intel for more detailed information on this issue.

Thank you for choosing Asus.

We wish you a good day.

Hello @Aeon1
Allow me to confirm that Intel microcode 0x129, as described in this link, is provided for Intel Core 13th/14th Gen desktop processors.

AND, at the same time, this BIOS version has also adjusted the default settings specifically for "non-K" series CPUs.

Thank you.

I have an intel  i5-13600K. Yesterday I updated my bios from 1661 to 1663. The update took longer than normal. After  the restart  booting into the bios took quite a will.  You need to be patient and resist the urge to restart your computer.  Day two on 1663 and all is well.
