ArmourySocketServer.exe crashes
Since September 28th, 2024, 11:26 a.m., I've found several of these messages in the Windows 11 reliability history.
They appear every time I start my PC after a while.
It's always the same error:
I have no idea what's going on again.
ArmouryCrate works, but these error messages are really annoying.
I haven't changed anything on my PC.
I just downloaded Armoury Crate updates yesterday, which were displayed:
Asus Framework Service on September 28th, 2024 for Rog Strix Z790 Gaming Wifi
Armoury Crate is currently v. 5.9.9.0:

I'll keep an eye on it, but I think it's Asus' fault that no connection can be established through this service, even though there is internet access.
I've never had this error before.
Edit:
ArmourySocketServer.exe is also running according to the task scheduler:
I have no idea what is causing this error since yesterday.
The error already appeared with UEFI/Bios 2503 yesterday and also after the update to UEFI/Bios 2602 BETA on September 28, 2024, 1:04 p.m.
So it is not the UEFI of the mainboard.

The crashing issue is getting worse by the day.
My system runs flawlessly, except for ASUS-related applications. ArmourySocketServer, ROGLiveService, ArmouryCrate.Service, BackgroundTaskHost, ArmouryCrate.UserSessionHelper, and ASUS NodeJS Web Framework are the only things crashing, and they do so constantly.
With absolutely zero support from ASUS, I’m left with no choice but to uninstall this mess.
Frankly, I don’t even use RGB lighting. I’ve only kept Armoury Crate around to manage updates, and even that seems like a mistake.
Has anyone else completely removed it? Any alternative solutions?

HOW TO ROLL BACK
Don't install latest AC 6.1.13.0. Retry with 5.9.13.0.
Use uninstall official tool, starting from this page [ASUS Armoury Crate] Armoury Crate FAQ | Official Support | ASUS Global
Then reinstall 5.9.13.0 which was stable (I have a ROG STRIX SCAR 18):
Alternative tools are from GitHub:
NOTE: as you can see from the target URL generated to download older releases of AC, the HTTP links are directly to microsoft.com servers. Ignore paranoid browsers just because they are not HTTPS links.

Thank you, @hexaae!
I really appreciate the alternatives, I'll definitely give them a try.

But 5.9.13 is not installing now. the system is automatically installing it on version 6.

i do have these same issue like you, but my problem is after install armoury crate and update to latest one use for 15 min to set up my keyboard and mouse settings the application hang my pc and suddenly screen went black and restart by itself. At first i though is my AMD driver issue and i did DDU my graphic driver, no luck armoury crate still hang my entire pc. so what i did is i reset everything and clean install windows 11 23h2 no backup any files, and no armoury crate install this one. now is so stable.
Sorry for my bad english btw

After the latest update, the PC freezes even when the monitor was in sleep mode. If it does not freeze, the graphics card and mainboard lose the lighting settings. Asus software is just annoying...

I uninstalled AC and for the first time since last September, not a single crash!
@hexaae, unfortunately, the two alternative tools (G-Helper & LaptopToolBox) are designed for laptops, so I couldn't test them.
That said, I don’t think I need them anyway, as Intel Driver & Support Assistant keeps me informed about software and driver updates.

I can also confirm that after rebooting the PC with ArmouryCrate version 6.1.13.0, the error messages in the reliability history increased:
Details on the respective error messages:
There is something wrong with ArmouryCrate and Windows 11 that keeps causing these errors to appear when you reboot your PC.
But ArmouryCrate itself has been running flawlessly for me so far, just like the previous old version 5.9.14.0.
I haven't been able to figure out what is causing these error messages, and neither does Asus. So we don't know if it's Windows or ArmouryCrate.
The only difference between version 5.9.14.0 and 6.1.13.0 is that 2 errors have been added since the major release:
- ArmouryCrate.Service.exe
- backroundTaskHost.exe
So we'll have to wait and see if these error messages disappear at some point.
Until then, you should simply ignore these error messages as long as ArmouryCrate itself is running flawlessly.

It is the same on WIN 10. I am still waiting to downgrade to WIN 11. I believe this is an ASUS issue, and it is not a priority for them. I don't have the time to continuously post the pictures and info, and nor do I get compensated when I do. In fact, I am rewarded with EVEN WORSE downgraded software... Seems to be global trend. So, I vote with my money. I will look elsewhere next build, which is coming up quickly. Truly a shame if this is what I have to do.
ASUS - YOU NEED TO GET YOUR SH!T TOGETHER AND FIX IT, OR GET RID OF IT! If you are going to offer these types of services, SERVICE THEM!
